You really want this forum? Was sort of thinking of a tutorial on Tiger Wraps but interest has shall we say wained! There was a lot of interest in folks getting into the hobby, but they like up and left or went silent. I've seen very few posts on tackle building as well

I feel your pain bro..... But not all that much. I have had several people contact me in fact many people about building rods or how to build them and then it seems that they all fall off the planet. So I ask you, why bother? It seems people here don't what to follow through with what they ask or say they are going to do. Just my :twocents: It seems to me that all the serious people that were here to learn all left in the mass exodus many weeks ago. What a shame.

I think that some of that comes from the thought that it will be cheaper to build your own rods versus buy them. Also the time commitment as well - oh well.

I've taken the pics and I have some narrative from Putter so I'll probably put something up and hope it ends up being of use to someone.

How did the rod show go for you by the way? Did you sell a few of those amazing rods of yours?

I think it might have to do with people being out actually fishing. I'm sure it will pick back up when fishing slows down. Novemberish?

Wow! Nice looking rods.....I've been considering getting into building my own rods for some time now. Just don't know where to begin and what equipment I would need. When I figure the amount of time put into a rod and cost of materials, it's really not cheaper...But, knowing that I put together the rod that is catching fish (hopefully) that's priceless.

Thanks for sharing.

guys dont get to discouraged, I think that some people thought "wow build my own rod, that will be cheaper than going a spending 200 on a new lami" I dont think they thought about time and dedication or the sense of accomplishment when they reel in that big ol hog on a rod that they built.

I do not build BUT I might, it may sound corny but, I am doing a bit of soul searching in my fishing style. so I am going to try fly fishing. I am getting a rod from salmontime today ( hopefully) it has good juju on it but I will eventually want to build my own fly rod. so I will be here bugging you guys...lol....I guess I should have hung on to that fly reel I gave to YOU stickfish huh.....lol.....

what's been surprising to this board to me, other than the lack of posts about rod building, is the lack of posts regarding tackle building.

There are a lot of creative iFish members with great stuff on homemade spinners, lures, lead molding, rigging techniques, etc.

Maybe most of that stuff as already been posted in the past on the main board, and so there has not been any motivation to post/repost on this tackle building board.

I'm as surprised as you Stickfish. I haven't had the time or money for any new projects lately so I haven't had much to add but still look on here almost every day for inspiration for the next rod. I know my building usually drops off about now until October/November while I spend all my spare time product testing last winters projecs so hopefully it's the same with everyone else.

I'd really like to see the tutorial on tiger wraps. I've been thinking of doing one on my next build ever since I saw yours.

I've got all the pictures taken of the steps and will put something together - with six rods in process and 4 more just hit the doorstep I'm a bit busy when I'm not busy ;)

Hello thar gang green. I just haven't been posting much in general.

I'm working on something new for me - a couple of bent butts. Got all the parts for a pair of heavy-duty bent butts, using a Calstar 6455XXH blank. I tell ya.....going through the motion of cutting off 10 inches from the blank base....feels not too different than cutting a hole in a hull for a transducer.

Got the big wind-on rollers to go with.

Will post some pics when I get a little further along.

Hay guys I would be happy to add to this part of the site. I only have built about a handful of rods and they are all fly (rods that is).

I must worn you however my first child is due June 8th and the preparation is keeping me preoccupied. That and trying to keep the wife happy/comfortable. Yet when I get time I will get around to posting some pics of what I have done and what I have in the works.

Even thought it looks like most of what is on here is spinning rods some of the information translates.

Woah Rooster! those are awesome! I especially like the last two, the blue one and the green one.....great work! :applause:

a tutorial would be great StickFish, I'm not a big rod builder, but have always wondered how those wraps go together! I'm looking forward to it....

A tutorial would be awesome, I have not built any rods yet, but I check this board regularly to see whats going on with the guys that are building. I am toying with the idea of pulling the trigger and just do it.
