all buried.
I had some time to kill so I took a second mortage on the house to buy some fuel and went for a drive. I live in Hood River so popping up to Lost Lake is pretty easy...unless of course there is still a couple of feet of snow on the road. Made it to within five miles of the lake then got stopped. I'm driving a Ford Escape with all season radials. The 4wd is really a misnomer but the issue I've been having is ground clearance...I get high centered pretty easy.
So I came off that mountain, flip flopped over to check out LoLo pass...pretty drive for about the .5 mile after crossing the headwaters of the Hood. I did find one of the hatchery holding tanks up there with a trailer and some department of natural resource guys camping out. It's back there off the beaten track a little bit.
Cruised up 35, slid down 26...i knew the answer before make the drive but I felt like seeing for myself. Frog Lake could probably be walked to from the parking lot with snow shoes. I was just wearing boots and the snow was just soft enough to make walking tough. I have no idea if any water is showing. The snow along the snowmobile trail is probably in the three foot range.
Timothy Lake access is a barricade of snow probably in the four to five foot range deep.
I stopped up at Bennett Pass to check out the access road to Badger...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha about sums that up. 15 to 20 foot tall cliff of snow blocking the road. Would not surprise me of you don't get to it this year from Bennett Pass, but I ain't no weather man.
Snow level dropping down to the 2 to 3 thousand foot range for the next few days.
Clear Lake campground access road is buried under around 6 feet or so.
