So I got a boat. If you would call it that. It's one of those Sevylor Fish Hunter 12' boats. But hey it get's me out there. I was at the expo ponds on Saturday (I'm out there almost everyday but this day ticked me off) and I didn't catch a darn thing except for a sun burn. I was fishing my usual area and lures and not one fish even looked at my gear. Then a father and son asked if they could lauch their boat right where I was at. Of course me being the nice guy that I am said sure. They launched their little 10' aluminum boat and trolled on towards the middle of the pond. Sure enough they got to about 5' after where I could cast my max and dropped their powerbait and sure enough WHAMM-O! Fish on! Now I know it could just be luck but I watched them go around the entire pond in 3 hours and they caught 12-14 trout. Everyone else i talked to on the shore had caught zero fish. Anyways this isn't the first time i've seen guys with boats/rafts out there and out fishing all of us bankers. So I was at work (Joes Sports aka GI Joes) and I was mad. I walked by the center of my store and noticed the fish hunter's were on sale. Is this a sign? I think so. So I had some pennies saved up and I thought about it for most of my shift. I bugged my boss about putting a trolling motor and a fish finder on it and weighing all the pros and cons. So I bought the fish hunter, the car inflator, oars, and a Lowrance Cuda 168 that works off of eight AA batteries. The trolling motor will have to come later. I feel very confident with my purchase since i have a car it will be easy for me to transport. If anyone has any cheaper ideas on how to mount a trolling motor to my boat besides buying sevylors trolling motor mount i would appreciate it. Until then I will see you on the water!

Inflatables work! Kind of fun when the $60,000 boat come by with an empty cooler and laughs at your "pool toy" until he sees you haulin' in the fish!

Good for you!.
Getting out on the water is what life is all about.
Use a net to land the fish and to help keep the hooks away from the side of your new boat.
Good Luck!

I get a few laughs too with my 9' $200.00 pontoon boat. Thats ok, not much laughing when I pulled up to the dock at haystack with that 30" rainbow last weekend. Not to mention the 5-20" browns I had caught and released. The best part is when I pull out the fish finder, trolling motor and rod holder. Boy do I get the looks. :passout:
Congrats on the boat.

if it floats you can fish from it.....I had an inner tube, an oar, and a small cooler hooked up one summer at LBC and caught some fish, people laughed, but I had some nice kokes in that cooler.....just in case you are wondering the cooler was tied to the inner tube and floating behind me.....that wakes were not fun. The cooler was swamped a few times and I was rolled off it once, but it was fun.....ok stop laughing... I was 14.....I SAID STOP LAUGHING!!!.....lol

Ohhhhh.....the silly stuff you do as a kid just so you can go fishing :jester:
How about a hefty bag with arm/head holes for Raingear? Or kitestring/mono spooled on a spinning outfit so I could "flyfish"?
Sorry for the hi-jack, but that was a little close to home for me :D
