We had every intention of going there last year, but time got away from us. We are commeitted to making the trip this year once snow permits. It's my understanding that it's a tent camping situationonly, trailors are ill-advised due to the poor road conditions leading to the lake. It is also my understanding that the only way in is from US 26. Is there an alernate route from Dufur?

rom Tygh Valley, Follow Primary Forest Route 48 west to the forest boundary. Continue on 48 for approximately an additional eight miles to Forest Road 4860. Follow 4860 north for approximately 6-7 miles to Forest Road 4860-140. Follow 4860-140 north until it ends at the campground. Location Information
Badger Lake lies within the Badger Creek Wilderness area. The campground is surrounded by wilderness. It offers four developed campsites and several additional dispersed sites. Trailers are not allowed on the narrow, rough access road (4860-140). High clearance vehicles are recommended. Fishing is usually quite good as it is stocked several times a year with 5-6 thousand "keeper size" rainbow trout. Brook Trout also inhabit the lake. There are several trails from the lake area that provide a variety of hiking experiences
This is what i got so i guess you can come in from tygh valley, but a guy i know said to go hwy 26 and then take hwy 35 and from there im not sure where to turn. sounds to me you need a truck to get in there.

Went a few years back with Pop's. If I remember correctly we turned into a snow park somewhere around Bennett Pass off of 35. The road in was at the end of the snow park.
Be prepared for a long slow bumpy ride on narrow roads in steep terrain.

i made it in there last archery season in a 88 Corsica but then again i had to watch every little move i made on the road and i also didn't care about it getting banged up under the car as long as it wasn't the tranny or oil pan lol but yes you should when the snow has left at least have an s10 4runner or explorer or something with at least some ground clearance to get in there.

Almost a four wheel drive road. Won't be accessible until late June. They stock it in July.

I drove up there from the Hwy 26 side about 10 years ago and unless they improved the road there would be NO WAY I would ever tow anything up there or take a camper - the road was beyond bad - you needed a 4 wheel drive for sure! Once up there quite a few people had towed boats and stuff up there so I would assume there was another way in. We caught some nice fish out of our belly boats flyfishing.
