A friend and I are heading up here Saturday to use our new pontoon boats, before we drift them on a river. It's been years since I've fished for trout. What are some of the things I could troll? Spinner? Flashers?- How do you rig them? Power bait and worms still being used, from the bank...? Thanks
Chris

I've done really well in lots of places trolling a wooly bugger with a standard spinning rod. I use a split shot about a foot and a half above the fly. Troll it slow. Simple and effective! You can also try Thomas Buoyant spoons, just troll them faster, or cast them. Use a snap swivel to attach them to the mainline. I don't bother with flashers when fishing small lakes like Silverton.

I always troll a little flasher and use a worm. I never have liked powerbait though. I know people use it on the bank and float it off the bottom. I always seem to do way better than the bankies though.

I have tried lures but seem to have better luck with bait. If the fish are biting, you will do well.

I live just above the lake, fish it very often. Will be there this weekend with my boy...troll a small wedding ring...red or green, mix the blade up a little...thread a worm on to the hook...place a split shot weight about 18"-24" above the spinner, row slowly. I like to replace the factory hook with a long tru-turn #4 finewire. Mealy worms work really well also...good luck it's a great little fishery, especially for the little ones.

Hey King, how many from Silverton are there here? So far there is you, me and Marshworm. COOL.

I havent been up to the damn this year yet, tried last summer but it was a traffic jam.

Fished this Saturday with my son. It looked like bouy 10 with all the boats, the bankies were shoulder to shoulder...parking was a premium. Fishing was slow from all the pressure the lake had on Thursday and Friday. The lake gets hit hard when word that it has been stocked gets out.
With all that said, we had a good day...it took us the better part of the day to get our limits, there were a few other boats that were having similar success, but the majority of those asked were only getting a few...I didn't see the bank fishermen net any.
The weather was great and even with the crowds I can't think of a better way of spending a beautiful day than fishing with my best fishing buddy.

Hi,

I am in Silverton, too!
I live about 5 minutes from it. Haven't had the time to fish it lately as I started up the bass scene recently.

Tight lines, Joel Berukoff
