Over the years, my buddies and I have figured out that after getting some kokanee slime on your hands, you get bit much more often. Doesn't seem to matter whether we are trolling or jigging. Haven't seen the same thing happen with trout and with salmon and steelhead, gettting fish slime on your hands is a definite no-no.
We've used gloves like when we're bobber fishing for chinook, and put scent on our hands, but kokanee slime seems to work as well or better than anything else. I wonder if it is because kokes aren't really a predator and instead are attracted to the scent of their own? Kind of a mystery, but I'm going to keep getting slimed until something better comes along.
