Well...Mrs. Mission, ****** and I hit the Clack today. Launched about 9 or so this morning.

Quite a few boats out there today. Water was at 13.1 or so and a nice green. About 1 p.m. or so the water really started looking good, and we all felt a fish would happen.

And it did. Got me a nice 12-13 lb. hatchery winter fish, and ****** didn't burn his britches, at least not with the heater.

Bernie.....did you get out there??

Water will be PRIME tomorrow.

See ya out there!!

Mark

I really do enjoy providing a "launch your boat, net your fish and recover your boat" river service for you. LOL  Mission knows his Fishin'!

Nice fish Mark!

FM. Did not make it out today :depressed: Decided to track down a what smells like a dead rat under the house. Looked everywhere but did not find a thing. Bummer.

Employees gave me a $140 gift certificate for Joes so I went and got another new rod and real. Got a nice combo shimano Corsair and 8 1/2 rod 10 to20 for 139. Tony was nice enough to throw in one of those new Shimano tackle boxes with the six keeper boxes inside the case. Though that was a smokin deal. Also got an ambassador 5500 too. Merry Christmas to me!!!

I am hoping for a trip on Monday so I can match that 12# er of yours Mark. Congrats. Glad no fires today.

Nice going Mark! Have you been slipping bananas into Rick's tackle? All the trips you guys take you get all the fish. Must be the banana juju.

Hey Mark, you did it again. Did you also catch that fish on the banana plug? I know that would make ****** feel real happy. Well he won't have to worry about his rain gear this week with the nice weather coming up.

When do you think that they will come out with yellow, banana flavored cookies to take along when you fish. ****** will probably need a big box.

******, just kidding. I know you are savvy enough to beat Mark one day.

Good luck guys.

David Johnson, you're a sick man  Banana and anise? Deadly combo. Fish smell that and they start laughing so hard they can't close thier mouths and your presentation glides right in. GULP!!!! Not to mention that their eyes are watering from the hard laughter!

Fish on!!

Yes, got the extra 20% off at Joe's.

Way to go Mark!! Launching at 9 AM, what's up with that? I fished w/ STZ II, and my wife today on the Clack., way too many boats on the river today. We went 0 for 2 today, that stinks. Glad to hear you got a nice one today. We fished from Carver up to the Dog Hole, where were you today?

Drachir....I've come to the conclusion that we do better later in the day. During the first few hours of daylight..the water gets pounded pretty hard by the sleds. Seems like after noon, things calm down alot, and the fish perk up. In fact...we discussed starting even later in the morning yesterday...moreso like...um...yeah...11 a.m. or so. Then fish til dark. At least on the weekends.

So your the one respnsible......just kidding.

Sure was a lot of boats today, two or three boats in the small/short holes and five to six boats in the larger ones. Boats fishing under each other, side by side, a line at the boat ramp, full parking lots, sleds anchored  It was like back in the 80's.

We ended up going three for five dispite having to fish around everyone. Half our fish came from above Barton and the other half from below Carver. And the first one we hooked was at 9:45. We quit about 1:30.

Steelie, Mark is just a darn good fisherman, fishing his home water (and putting his plug where he wants it LOL). Don't need to "defend" myself. In the meantime, catching is secondary.

Being on the river, fishing and the company is primary. Getting to see some of the Clack I've never seen.

Especially places I want to lay 300 feet of anchor rope for David. I'll soon have every plug I ever wanted! (Kidding dude)

Besides, Mark is so rusty with the net, one should probably play the fish until it's dead.

I do smell an oversized sturgeon virgin I am going to "hurt" next year though. He will also see my own summer steelhead/salmon show this summer.

You'll have to include me in the sturgeon virgin trip. Never done it. I can relate to the rusty net practices. After not fishing for a few years the skill isn't as sharp as it used to be(Bugleman will agree   ).

Merry Christmas to all.

Yes, Steve, rusty is an understatement. His pancake turner netting Tech. doesn't cut the mustard. Here is how it goes. Kevin plays the fish and gets it ready to come in. The fish slides in on top showing Steve his 2 tone. Steve then slides the net under and lifts the fish out of the water straight up (fortunatly the steelies are small and the net is stout). Steve by all rights has the fish yet it is flailing around by the hoop and not burried in the sack. It is now apparent that, as the fish slides back into the water, that Steve forgot to let go of the net bag. Steve then proceeded to do the same thing on the next trip. Fortunatly for him they both were well hooked and I was able to bring them to the boat for a 2nd and final netting.

Merry christmas to all.

Kevin

OK ******, if that fish is 30lbs then you must be runnin' right around 340. Which is it?

Hey Bugleman it would help if you bought a real net instead of using that trout net of yours.lol

It was my salmon net  Technique needs some practice though.

Mark, is this an ad for stop smokin', stop eatin', plastic surgery and much bigger salmon, or what? LOL. Actually it is 30 pounds, it just appears small next to me.

Mark is probably "do dooing his pants" right now, with you thinking the picture is of him and not me. LOL. Mark has "Fishin' Mission" on the side of his white Fishrite 20 foot sled. He will also swear he is not blond. Besides, I have a good boat.

(Like the "do dooing" Jen  )

Nice fishy ******.

Hey Shrimpy! That ol' net of mine lands steelhead just fine. In fact it has landed quite a few this fall. I'd hate to brag but 15 in three trips is a decent tally. We haven't really lost one yet.

I do admitt that the 30+lb nook I caught on the Wilson was a tight fit

No worries though. My girlfriends father bought me a top of the line "Beckman net". It is sweet! About 9' extended and I can't wait to break it in. Also it does have a very good name too.

Later,

Kevin Beckman

Hey you guys be careful with that pancake spatula netting technique. I almost got flipped out of the boat doing that at Buoy 10 this year when I was too excited to let the bag go on a 20 nookie during some high chop. Luckily one of my buddies caught my feet on the way up and over. Never know what would happen if you make a fishing partner have to decide between you and the fish on the end of the line.

Say what??? Good Boat?? Huh?? What???

Oh man...I'm being picked on here.

No need to "flame" ****** here...he does that well enough on his own!! LOL

I'm still tryin' to figure out why he nets my rod holders with my fish tho. ??

Good job Bugleman. I'm glad you are having a good winter steelhead season and I'm really glad you have a new net now.We will have to get together and float a river again soon.
