Well I guess I finally found out,

Fished with Capin' Dan!, Bait Boy and Mark yesterday on the Lewis.

You aren't gonna believe this but about 35 seconds after my first cast on the first drift... FISH ON!

What a fish, he skyed completely out of the water at least half a dozen times. Dan! was telling me that it was most likely a native fish and we would have to let it go.

When we finally got the fish in the boat it had at least 4 or 5 dents in its forehead. Steelhead - Nethead I think there's a connection. Anyway, there was no fin! A hatchery delight. It made a new hole in Dan!'s net and when he took him out the jack got pretty excited. Dan!'s got the touch! Sorry about the floor of yer new boat Bait Boy  .

In all it was an outstanding day with 4 fish to the boat and a good time by all.

Had burritos on the Barby and fish in the box.

By the way....

What's a Steelhead? It's "What's fer dinner  "

Thanks again Dan, Rick and Mark.

Mr. F. out....

Ray, you dog! Here I was feeling all guilty for not inviting you to my metalhead adventure on Thursday and you went anyway. That first one is pretty cool I must admit.

Thanks Kevin and Mike for your company and having a good attitude about the fishing lesson. I bagged two hats and released 2 cutts. The only fish caught on a river that will remain nameless to protect the innocent.

Congrats Ray,

I told you it would come. Now you're ruined for life. I'm going to have to head up to the lewis one of these days seeing as I haven't caught a steelhead since February of last year.

Glad you had the opportunity to catch that fish. It has been a long time coming. I firmly believe that if you put in your time (or Money)you will get that magical first steelie. Of course it always helps to have a buddy that knows how to fish.

I'd like to thank Dan for taking me on my first trip down the river, and letting me soak up the knowledge of the guide.

Steelhead are:
The meaning of life!!
The only reason for exsisting on this planet!
Everything is meaningless ONLY STEELHEAD MATTER.

Ramstrong- what are you waiting for? You got to get 'em! Up by the hatchery either side. Week ago got one 6-7lb long skinny hen second cast on green corky after I lost egg set up. Going back soon to see if I can top that with a bigger one.

It took me most of 5 years to get my first steelhead when I tried the same ol bass techniques that I had used all my life. You can bet that I tried my really hard to knock that fish off for you Ray. Just like the Springer last year right. I did manage to knock off markus the raiders fish though. Did you see how fast baitboy pulled my netting responsibilities after knocking off htat fish. I don't think that I will have to worry about netting a fish on his boat for a couple of years. Congrats you made it look way too easy. By the way not bragging but I did get two fish that day even if I did knock one of them off with the net.

O. K. I'm bragging

Dan!'

I assure you that I put in my time. For the past 8 or 9 trips I've been saying that I ought to catch one on my first cast.... Boy did I get lucky.

I put in over 125 hours for that fish all said.

I sure wish I would have been feeling better that day and hope that I didn't damper your trip. When I got home I went straight to bed and didn't get up for 2 days. Had a nasty feever and the chills. I'm feeling a lot better now, thannnk goodness.

I really appreciate getting out there for a lesson with you guys. Of course luck isn't everything but it does help  .

See ya soon Dan!',
