Fished with Uncle Bob at Riverside Thursday for my birthday. Saw a bankie get one fish and another large steelie jump between boats. Nary a bite for us though.

Water looked pretty good. Nice green color. Still rippen through.

Saw Fishin Mission go by on the other side of the River busy doing something. Did you get any FM? Nice rainy day.

Thanks for going on short notice Uncle Bob. Always enjoy your company.

FM, yes I have a sled. 18' alumiweld guide model flat bottom square nose, Merc power. Skunk seemed to be the word yesterday. One friend got an 11# at the bar yesterday and 8# on Monday with the plunking gear.

Burning gortex? Shoe leather tastes better  I hope to get out this weekend but I have a sick kicker motor. Looks like sturgeon until I get it back.

O.K....With all due respect for ******...I'll post what happened here instead of putting it in a new topic. You know...Kinda (Yeah right) keeping a LOW PROFILE here.

O.K....as Bernie mentioned prior...it was a cold rainy day Thursday, and Rick and I were dressed in our finest raingear...Rick in his $300.00 Goretex suit, and me in my Helly Hansen's.

I snuck out Wednesday afternoon for the last 2 hours of daylight to fish, and when I got home, I just left the sled hooked up to the truck, so consequentially the boat accumulated some water.

Thursday, as I put the sled up on a plane...Rick mentioned that I had alot of water in the rear of the boat, and he asked me where my bilge pump switch was. Now...ya gotta keep in mind here that there's 2..that's TWO propane heaters burning to keep each of us warm.

Well...Rick hits the bilge pump switch, but since he's a tad bit bigger than me, and standing on the oppisite side of the boat than where the bilge pump is, I ask him to move over to my side of the boat, figuring we'd get most of the water where the pump is. One problem tho.

Rick is standing with his behind right up against my 17,000 BTU Coleman. Within about 3 seconds, he's on FIRE (TALIBAN!!! As he likes to say), and we're sending smoke signals that would make anyone proud. Nice rain dance (?) there too Rick.

So...I guess today's boat tip would be to watch those heaters!!

Now I got bits and pieces of Rick's Goretex rainpants on the carpet in my boat..looks like bread crumbs.

So.......even tho fishing wasn't hot....Rick was.

A similar thing happened a few years back to my fishin' buddy, STZ II. We were fishing the Clack. in the Dog Hole, on a cold nasty day. Well he proceeds to hook a fish, he stands up to grab the rod out of the holder, and gets too close to the propane heater, and his Helly Hansens go up in flames. We got his fire put out with some quick thinking, and a few burned fingers, from the burning rubber. Low and behold after al this comotion, the fish was still on the line, and we got it in the net, a real nice 12# Winter Fish. What a day to remember, been there, done that!!

Hey Catch-n Eat, Happy Birthday! I called you back today and you were out getting your kicker. Yesterday, you were off fishing. Don't you ever work? You gotta stay at the shop and work so you can buy parts, so I can buy my kids some shoes. Have a great Christmas if I don't hear from you. Tell my buddy Shaggy I said hi and Merry Christmas.

******, maybe you should stick with something safer without an open flame. Ask Jennie to lend you some of those ****** heaters, you can call them booter heaters.

I'd continue to wear that raingear ******! Just patch it with some rubber cement and old intertubes and call it Helltex ....

Come to think about it, I've got a few brown spots on my heater and a few melted spots on my gear as well, but no real flame dances yet........

SureSet

Hey Lightline. WHAT??????? Thanks for re-quoting me I guess.

Spooled. What do you mean? I work all the time. Always check to see if you overcharge me or send me damaged goods.  Besides, who wants do work on thier birthday. Not me. Talked with Uncle Bob. He fished Meldrum. Saw lots of fish Friday. He got there at five and there were already 15 fishers there. Now that is crazy!

Merry Clackamas Christmas!!!
