i recentely bought 2 apex's for trout and went out to the lake to try them and neither of them ran straight. is there anything i can do to fix them? i've never used them before so not sure if there is a trick or not. any help would be great.

You don't want them to run straight, the more erratic the better and a roll every now and then doesn't hurt either. Don't think they should run like a flatfish, they trigger strikes by their wild action. Troll somewhere between 1.2-1.6 mph with these. I mainly troll at 1.2 and have very good results. A leader of at least 3' to a dodger should be used since this lure has action of it's own. Don't put too much bait on the hooks, as this can mess up the action. Make plenty of turns and vary you speed. PM sent.

thanx for the info. i was ready to throw them out. when i put it i the water i expected it to run straight like a kwik or flatfish. i guess i'll hold on to them and give them an honest try.

I had the same "problem" when I first started using them. I got tired of mucking with them after a bout 30 minutes so I just dropped a couple down with my down riggers and started setting up a "better lure". Before I got the "better lure" set-up, I had two fish in the boat. Certainly listen carefully to anything posted by Silver Bullets he certainly knows his stuff.

This is how an Apex is supposed to look and run in the water.
