After months of agonizing over it, our family finally made the decision to stop attending our local church and return to one we had previously been attending. It is a good church, no in-fighting or cliques to deal with, but it is about 30 minutes away. Longer, if you include the time we have to take getting the kids settled in the nursery.

The church is planning on planting a new church in our area within the next few months, and we are really excited about that. The man who will be our pastor has been heavily involved in the addiction recovery ministry at the our current church. There is a huge need in this community to reach the fringes, the people who Jesus would have reached out to, but for some reason our modern church doesn't want to deal with. I really believe that the people we see walking stoned or drunk down the road are the ones that God can most use sometimes, not those of us who think we've got it all together.

Right now, they are having trouble locating a building. They have already been turned down by the schools and some other churches. Please pray for our new pastor, as well. I have not spoken much with him, but we are hoping to attend his ordination and provide whatever support we can.

This community desperately needs a solid Bible-teaching church with a heart for community outreach, and a pastor with a love for people. I pray that, whatever building we end up in, we who are the church can minister to the lost and hurting people we call our neighbors.

Melissa:
You have my prayers, sister. I know how difficult it can be to lose and then have to replace a true spiritual leader and man of God like Pastor Morley. Often times they are the binding glue that Jesus provides that holds a congregation together, and things slowly unfold after their loss. We also know through our faith that God will reward the righteous prayers and perseverance of His family by providing them with another church and pastor which is true to Him and preaches and lives His word. You and your family will be blessed in time for your true devotion to Christ and His gospel. :flowered:

As a side note...Dennis' son Seth will be formally ordained into the work of the Christian ministry at our church May 4th. We know that Dennis is smiling from above about this blessed event. Who knows...Seth may in time be called by our Lord to serve in your community as pastor. God has a way of working things out in ways like that!

I'll pray. Having pioneered a new church I know what lies in store. Your Pastor will need people like you to uphold him

I'm sure Dennis would be so pleased with that. :angel1:

You are right, GP. Having seen my uncles and some close friends involved in ministry, I know some of what is involved in church planting.

We both (my husband and I) feel pretty spiritually drained, after several months of sporadic church attendance and walking away a bit from all things "religious." It's not been good for us, and we've allowed ourselves to sink even lower by getting caught up in people's games and ego trips.

We have offered our help, if it's needed, but this endeavor is about Him, not the pastor or us or anyone else who wants to showcase their talents. I believe that if the truth is told and grace is given, lives will be changed.

Talked briefly to our new pastor today. He's found a building to use. Sounds like we will be starting in 3 or 4 weeks.

When we decided to leave Calvery Chapel SE and find another church it was hard. Lots of hurt but God brought us to a church that we knew everyone because those ones also left that church. We were led by God to our church we go to now. It is such a wonderful feeling when God has shown you where you should be. All belivers are God Church.

The first service will be this Sunday. I think everyone is excited/nervous about it. It couldn't come at a better time, with the cost of gas becoming prohibitive for some people in our area to drive into Mac to attend church.

Praying for our pastor and his wife, as they take on this new role.

Wonderful news. We know that your family will be a blessed addition to this branch of our Lords' Body. :flowered:

What a great first day! There were about 50 people, many from the Mac church in support of this little sister church. I did not hear the service, as I was tending the kids, but my husband said Pastor Tom did a really good job.

Please be in continued prayer about the children's ministry. They opened the gym up for the kids, and I was dripping sweat running up and down the gym after our son, while trying to keep the baby from climbing the bleachers. :passout:Hopefully, we can find a smaller room for them.
