I saw in the local newspaper that a 39" 18.5lb steelie was banked. A local derby had the fish caught and pictured. What do they use for those fish in that lake. I never thought that they would be steelies in there? just large trout and big bass.

I heard of rumors of catching those big ones on lures (spoons, spinner *blue fox*, or trolling) or bait. For bait some say they are steelhead and will take sandshrimp under a bobber, I have personally seen someone get a 19" on powerbait. Worms, powerbait, salmon eggs product. Just work to find them. They are in the lake!!!

by the time they are dumped into these lakes includeing vernonia they are basically half dead trout! hardly the chrome bright specimen you picture on a remote stream in b.C or anything. very cool and a pleasant surprise none the less:thisbig: especially for a young kid on an ultra light rod.

when I was up there last week ran in to an old guy who said they have been catching steelies over by sain creek on worms and powerbait. I didnt have any luck, but hopefully the water warms up just a little so the fishing will get a little better, then maybe I will get some fish out of there.
