I finaly got a bunch of my Alaska slides scanned from a few years ago. I shot them on Fuji Velvia 50 [the older good stuff ] with a Canon 35mm. I was working on a website and needed some stock images and I can not stop thinking about a trip I have in August. This time IM bringing a better camera but I realy like a few of these older ones. The Velvia 50 slide qaulity shows great depth that even when scanned seems to be better then alot of digital shots I have.

One of my favorite places in the world. you do not need to fish to enjoy being here. Fishing here is not important but looking out into the sea and knowing that you are someplace you could reside forever will leave you with a feeling and memory fishing can not provide. There will be plenty of great fishing tommorow to enjoy.

While driving in Alaska in July and August you often see large fields of what they call Fire Weed. You can get some great shots when everything is just right.

My return to Alaska this year will lead me on a dolly trail of smaller streams were salmon are more of a problem then a benefit. However annoying the salmon may be they must be present or the dollys will not be there. I remember thinking that in this spot a huge red spawner chinook swallowed my red strike indicator right off the surface! My 4 lb tippet was no match for him but there was plenty of great dollys just behind.

Colors become very strong in the larger males as does the hook in the lower jaw. Dollys of this size provide quite a battle on a 6 weight.

If you ever end up on the Sterling highway you will see this site and believe me when I tell you that if you are standing right here as I was you will be surrounded by some of the worlds best flyfishing!
Just a few months now for our trips to start taking place but IM already thinking about my last trip and my next trip every single day, accept for when I forget to take my medication : )
