View Full Version : A little prayer for mom (update)

CATCH AND EAT

Folks, a little prayer for my mom this morning. she is undergoing a thalium test as I write this. She had some chest pain last week and her arms were sore afterwards. I don't think this is a good sign. Mom is diabetic besides so there are some issues we just are not sure about.

Dad left a message a bit a go and said her ekg from last week is different from the ekg this morning. Not something we want to hear at this time.

Thanks for your prayer.

Latest report on Bernie's mom (my wife) is that the latest EKG shows some abnormality. It wasn't there 8 days ago. They are referring her to a cardiologist who will be getting in contact with us. We're trusting the Lord that everything is going to turn out alright. She had trouble walking out to the car after her appointment and took some nitro. Pain went away fairly quickly (a good sign), but suggests that there might be some blockage somewhere. After having had 19 procedures on my own heart and having two bypass surgeries, we really don't need both of us to have heart problems. However, we will face whatever comes our way and trust in the goodness of our loving Lord. pops.

Dad just called me. Doctors have confirmed that she has a blockage of some sort and have immediately prescribed attenenol. I would suspect an angiogram will be next followed by at least a possible stint.

Keep her in your prayers if you will. She's a special classy lady and a true woman of God.

Wanted to say thank you for your continued prayers for my mom, Bernadine. She has an appointment on Monday with the Cardiologist and then another appointment on Thursday with a specialist. She is getting pretty anxious as you can imagine and wants whatever is wrong fixed so she can get back to normal or a symbolance of normal anyways. Has also been very heavy upon Dad's mind too of course. He does not need this extra stress so keep him in your prayers too.

We trust the Lord has a way to heal her body. We are impatienct, we want things to happen now. Tough to wait on the Lord's timing.

Well the report from the cardiologist this morning was not very good for mom. Appears that both sides of the heart has blockages and will need attention to some degree. She is schedualed to have an angiogram next Friday to have a peek at what ails her ticker. Doctor indicated Bi-pass surgery is most likely with stints a possibility too.

Keep mom (Bernadine) in your prayers please. Pray for Pop's too. This is big time stress on him as well.

Bernie, you got it :pray:, on both counts. Bypass surgery, especially if she's a good surgical candidate, can be a very good thing. Although he's in end-stage congestive heart failure now, my dad has had a very good and active life (up until the past two years) since his quadruple bypass some 20+ years ago. Best wishes. Don

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your peace, mercy, and love - we lift up Bernadine that You will heal her of the heart blockages and restore her health. Please be with the doctors and nurses during the angiogram Friday. Place a wall of flames and a hedge of thorns around about them to ward off the fiery darts of the enemy. Please send your Angels to comfort Carl, Bernie and the other family members during this time.

She will be seeing the hemotologist Thursday morning. We need a good report so that they can do the angiogram. If the report is not good they must get the blood work to a point that is acceptable so proceedures can be done.

Thank you all for your prayers

Just got back to work from Kaiser where mom had her angiogram. The report is not real good I am afraid. They went ahead and admitted her to the hospital and will perform a quadruple bypass on Monday. 80% blockage in one of the larger main arteries that supplies 70% of the blood to the heart. Thank God she is there now as she really was a ticking time bomb.

Monday she will be transferred to ST V's for surgery where they will put her together and get her feeling better right away.

Keep her in your prayers this weekend please.

Wow! What a long long long day this was. The result so far is good. She came out of surgery about 345 this afternoon. We got to see her three times after surgery but she of course was still out of it. They are addressing a low platlet count with transfusions units. When we left this evening her count was looking much better and the bleeding after surgery was starting to decline.

Mom ended up with 4 bypasses when it was all said and done. We are so thankful that technology has advanced so far that these type of lifesaving surgeries are available. We are also thankful for the grace of God and friends that agree in prayer on our behalf and for those friends that are with us in positive thought for her recovery. Let me tell you that both are so important when one is fighting for their lives. I so appreciate those of you that were with us both in thought and prayer. A very valuable asset!

I'm am home now, very tired too. Pop's is exhausted and my sister Rhonda is too. Seems we just did this last year at this very same time. Man..........I don't want this again. Pop's got to see it from the sideline this time. Let me tell ya this is a man that loves his bride of 50 years. they have known each other since they were 16 years old. Not a doubt in our minds of their love for each other. Not sure of the last time I have seen my father sob but today was one of those times where emotion and concern overwhelmed him. Real men do cry. No need to be tough when your loved one is one the line with their life. He appologized to me for breaking down. Dad, you never have to appologize to me for something like this. Perfectly natural. Like I said. Real men do cry. You are a real man in my book and amoung man other men that we know. Perfect example of how love should really be.:twocents:

Thank you everyone. Please continue to pray for mom the next few days. Still critical at this point that we continue to up lift her.

Mom looked great last night. Voice is almost normal and she is really healing up nicely. Still just a little bleeding but minimal. Up and walking about and not much pain at all.

I am so pleased that Dad recognized what was going on with mom and got her to the doctor. She might not be with us today if he had not been adamant about her seeking treatment.

We are all very thankful for the results and for all the prayer you all have given to our family. Means a lot to us. Thank you.

Mom has spent a few extra days in the hospital due to a couple of complications. Couple of issues with her blood sugar and she has not been able to get the junk out of her lungs. Mom came home yesterday and is resting during the recovery process. She is very happy to be back home again and looking forward to some decent sleep away from the hospital vampires.

We cooked dinner for them last night that consisted of freshly caught sea-bass, rice, crab cakes, and a salad. Not sure she would appreciate dad's cooking abilities as his skill is making cereal and french toast and a cup of coffee. lol:whistle: Tonight it is spaghetti and french bread with a side salad.

Thank you all for your prayers and support during this time. I remember last year when you all prayed for my dad when we almost lost him. Good people here that care. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.
