We have been having a tough go of things lately. My husband lost his Dad in December 2006 and then 14 months later his best friend passed away.

My husband has been having some health issues and they ran a bunch of tests. Now comes news from my husband's doctor that it is time for him to start eating healthier, lose weight, exercise and most importantly he needs to stop drinking. If he does all of this then he can "control" the health problems.

He has some valid questions about these changes. Why hunt if you have to limit your consumption of meat? Why shoot birds, fish, clam and crab, if you have to limit those as well?

Losing the beer is also difficult. He grew up with "social functions". He went to college and again beer was part of that experience. Beer is a way to connect with friends and sometimes...a way to forget life.

Please keep him in your prayers and if you have stopped drinking please send him an encouraging PM that his life isn't over. His moniker: Wreckless.

Making lifestyle changes like these are not easy. I quit drinking almost 3 years ago and it wasn't always easy. I still fish and hunt and have no intention of giving those up. It can be done and our prayers are with you.

Just wanted to say thank you for the prayers. We made it through our first week of avoiding all those bad for you foods/drinks. It hasn't been easy but he is trying hard.

I would ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers. We currently have all of his best friends tackle at our home and are prepping it for a private "estate" sale. This has been so difficult for my husband; he and Dale took many trips together and bought gear at the same time so often that everything he touches holds a memory. Honestly, just the volume of tackle has been daunting but the memories are overwhelming. Dennis gets a glazed look after an hour of sorting and pricing. I have heard many many Dale stories and I know this is helping us move through the stages of grief but it is very difficult.

Thank you.

Neither one of us can understand why God would choose to take a 44 year old father of three young kids.

Only the lord can say why he rings his children home when he dose. All I can say is God has a reason for it and he will help you through it all. Just keep trusting.
