Best of luck to all of you fishing in the "slaughter on the water" this Saturday. There are a lot of fish in the system right now; it should be good fishing. I don't want to see any of you get a ticket so please be aware that the upper section is closed to all fishing. The section from the dam to the hatchery is not open at this time. This section had a special opening for Coho but it has subsequently been rescinded. You might want to check the current regulations to verify this if you are considering heading
above the hatchery. If you are running a non-motorized craft, you might also want to consider launching at the hatchery and running to the island ramp. The river is running high and fast so you should be able to get two drifts in on the same day. Have fun.

I believe that the upper deadline is at the mouth of Colvin Creek, which is about a quarter mile above the Cedar Creek (second) hatchery. The deadline is well-marked.

Thumper, you are correct, thanks for clarifying; but I don't think there is a launch there. I think the only way to get to the deadline is to motor up or float all the way down from the dam.
