I had the pleasure of fishing the Wilson River Monday with guide David Johnson and IFISH member Gus Orviston (Dennis). To say it was a great trip was an understatement. We hooked 27 fish, landed 17 including a 26 pound Chinook.

David put us into fish the first 5 minutes, and we were releasing fish after the first hour, so we could keep fishing. INCREDIBLE! It never stopped.

It was nice to fish with both Dennis and David. We joked around, caught fish and had a great trip.

Thanks David for a exceptional trip.

Spooled,
I am heading for the Wilson on Thursday. Did you do the lower drift? What a day!!! If I catch 1/3 of what you got it will be a killer day!

Rags, don't do this to me. We were going to the Lewis on Thursday... Does this mean I get to go to the Wilson or do I go to the Lewis without you. I wouldn't do this to you.....

John, I've got a fish on...

Ah, tough decisions. The Wilson was high but productive today, as was the NF Lewis. On the Lewis (12,000 CFS!!!) Bruce Gipple and Dan Ponciano did well, but these guys are the best. We fished the Wilson. I'll bet it goes out after tomorrow's rain. Geez there's a bunch of steelhead in our rivers!!!

Snapshot, if rags bails on you I will be more than happy to go do the Lewis with you. I was planning on fishing there anyway. I went today and saw Ponciano get one fish. I don't know why but he wasn't driving his own boat. I touched one fish with a jig in close between the plunkers at the hatchery. but no stick.

Bait boy, you are on. If the rains come as predicted, the Wilson will most likely be out of shape so Rag will come a beggin. If we end up thar, I would love to be see how the jig fishing works. Never had the chance and love learning new things to trick the fish. Just caught my first fish on a plug so may as well give the jig a chance. Are you going Saturday too. We already have a boat full but who knows, I may not let Rags in on Saturday if he catches a big chinook, hen, with 15 pounds of eggs in her gut.
Rags, are you reading this????? Call me, I won't be back until about 9:30 tomorrow night.

Nice day on the Wilson there Spooled  Bright Chinook and some purty steelies. Glad to hear you got your rod back too. Next time cast with your hands on the handle.

Congrats on the Brats! Good job David. You earned you money on Monday.

Spooled made me "spit hand shake" that I wouldn't say a thing about the rod going in the creek, but now it's out. BTW: you didn't need to spit so much. I hope that other stuff that happened doesn't make print...(matching the hatch for city sturgeon and the like...)

In all seriousness, THANKS AGAIN David, what a special day! I have been out of it for so long, it was a great confidence booster.

With sore arms and still a bit giddy,
Dennis

Nice Feesh Spooled,
Sounds like the best Guide trip this year.
I am plannning on going down to the Wilson in the morning at O'dark thirty.
If anyone has an open seat... I sure would like to get off the bank. I can pay my way and have my own gear. Please let me know if anyone has space.
baitboy, I e-mailed you the other day about hooking up with you as well to go jig fishing. Did you get my message? Tom
