Thinking of buying a 2008 Hewescraft 18' sportman w 90 hp honda or yamaha.
What do you like or dislike about them.
For some reason they don't have an anchor storage up front, just a fishbox. Has this been a major inconvience? I was going to put an anchor nest anyways.
thanks for your input.

that is what i have and i have no complaints or regrets!
Great boat but would recommend going with more power!
That 90hp will only push the boat 32-34mph WOT and cruise around 20-23mph. Step up to the 115 and WOT will get you 38-40mph while cruising 25-27mph.
Fuel consumption will be similar as the 115 will cruise at lower RPM. Also anticipate longer engine life with the 115.
If you go with the 115; buy the Yamaha (less weight).
Throw on a T8, trim tabs, GPS/FF/VHF, and you got yourself a fishing machine!

I love my Hewes! The Miller Marine anchor locker is definitely the way to go on these boats!

I have a 2002 18 Sportsman with 90 and 9.9 mercs. I have been very happy with it. Top speed solo on Sunday was 38.4 by gps. I am now selling it to upsize to a 21' river runner. No complaints.

The boats are the best but my :twocents: worth is get the 115 over the 90 and it's Honda not Yamaha.

Honda 115 is roughly 520 lbs...Yamaha 115 420 lbs, and should be less $$. 90 will push it just fine. If ya go with a 90 ,either brand would do. The 08 Honda 90 is an all new motor as well.
