OK, I have 2 related questions:

1. Anyone know where I could find travel rods (casting or spinning, at least 4 pieces, or < 30 inches)? I have only been able to find overpriced flyrods or cheap telescoping rods. I am thinking of building one on a flyrod blank, but I'd rather just buy one.

2. Also, anyone have any experience carrying on a fishing rod with the latest security changes on airlines?

Thanks,
Richard

We just took some 6" or 8" pvc pipe,5' long, a cap and a threaded end and plug. You can put 8 or so two piece rods in it. Add a shoulder strap and travel the world!

Richard, before the day I carried my lamiglass medium steelhead rod on every flight. Just put it in a rod sock and put it in the overhead bin.

Since then I haven't tried it.

A long time ago I checked the rods as baggage but had some negative experiences with that. If you've ever watched those guys handle baggage you can imagine why.

Has anyone carried a rod on the plane since the day?
