Has anyone ever seen a Subaru engine mated up for an inboard / outboard application? I see V's, L-4 & 6's that all take up substantial space but I would have thought some inventive type would have made a flat opposed four cylinder work.

Once I was surfing and came upon some photos of Subie marine installs. OEM type stuff, pretty old. I don't remember any of the details other than thinking it was cool (subie guy here). Given the number of subies in airplanes, they certainly can muster up the needed reliability. Generally speaking though, its easier to deal with length than width in a boat.

Savvy that but I was just musing. With the price of fuel it will be cheaper to get some solar, hybrid/green power source in the next few years.

The STI engine would be a good choice.

boat app looks a lot like truck, not 2 many flat six truck engines out there...
ditto for the sti with a turbo
nice bang for the buck on the street, but not a great boat app.
