Has anyone been doing any fishing on big creek latley? Thinking of taking a trip out there if the fishing was any good. Anyone know of any other good places to try an hour or so from astoria? Thanks in advance :smile:

I read on the discussion board that the NF Hehalem is producing fish at the hatchery. They said that it was crowded on Saturday but everyone fishing at the hatchery had a fish. You can call the hatcheries during the week and they will tell you if they have fish in the pens or if they have started trucking them back downstream. If you hit them on Big Creek let us know. That is where I learded to fish steelhead in about 1970. However my first fish came from Eagle Creek near Esticada, in 1969. I had no idea what I was doing but I caught one with a fly rod, spinning reel and a mepps like spinner. Though I was snagged on the bottom to start with. I was there for a picnic with my wife and saw one caught. I had to try.
