First time out in my new supervee and it didn't take long. Got it wet and bloody, all the same day. We launched about 1:45 or so and headed upriver. Ran the boat to see how to use a tiller, never had one. Love at first bite. We decided the water was to fast for us to rig up so we found an eddie and started to tie on some plugs. I have never caught a fish ( steelhead )on a plug so I had to rely on Rags telling me how to tie the safety pint swivel to the plug. I had to retie once but they Rags had to start from scratch on his rod. I started letting out some line to test the plug to see if it ran true. I remember that from bass fishing. Let out about 25 feet of line, a little at a time, and that's when old moby dick himself hit. John was still threading his rod and did not believe me when I told him I had a fish on. I watched it jump and then told him again. At last he looked up with a grin and said RIGHT, the fish jumped agian and he believed. We netted the 14 lb buck as bright and beautiful as any I had ever caught. Took a couple pictures for No Pilgrin and my scrapbook. I had waited since Thanksgiving to take the boat out for the maiden voyage and this was my first opportunity. Cannot believe I got the boat wet and bloody withing the first 30 seconds of actually putting the first hook in the water. Now I love the good old Clack. Thanks for going John. PS: last time I bought a boat and took Rags he caught the first fish in it.

Sorry No Pilgrim, I just couldn't wait for you on this one. Come on over for the flotilla....

Congrats Snapshot, you have a great fishing boat and I am sure you will have some killer days on the river. Nice fish today. I wish they were all that easy. No then it wouldn't be so much fun waiting hour after hour in cold wet rainy days for the rod to go down.

We will probably never have it that easy again but as Rags said, then it wouldn't be as fun. Can hardly wait to go next weekend on the flotilla. Lunch sounds like the best part. I have been to the Oak Tree for breakfast many times and it has always been very good. See ya at the river.
