Motor turn radius

I have a merc 115 on steering cable that will not turn all the way to the left, there is about 1 1/2"-2" left of the metal bar that does not go all the way in and is still exposed. I have lubed it and worked it but no luck.

Any ideas?

Maybe the problem is at the wheel ... Old cables sometimes get frayed up there and limit travel ...:twocents:

Thanks I am going to disconnect the motor and check things out.

You may have to remove the cable from the engine and clean the tube it goes into. There may be old grease and corrosion that has built up and needs to be removed.
