Hey Guys
I have a 20' open sled with a king trailer. Because of the transom tray in the back of the boat, I can't raise the motor enough to engage the lock to keep it in place when trailering. As a fix, I took a block of plastic resin and wedged it between the bracket and the motor and lowered the motor down until it was snug. Bad idea. Long story short, does anyone use transom savers and if so do you have any recommendations?
Thanks
Jackson

115 4stroke on 19' Alumaweld. The Transom Saver is the way to go! It locks your big motor to the trailer, and saves hydraulics..... :twocents:

Tim - where'd you get it and did you have to bolt anything to the trailer or does lowering the motor "lock" it in place?
thanks

Go to the M-Y wedge website, all you need to know is there!:meme:

I second the M-Y wedge. I have used one for three years now.

One more bump for the M-Y Wedge. Have one for my main and kicker. Sooo much easier than the transom saver.

M-Y Wedge isn't a transom saver, it's a trim system saver, it doesn't relieve the weight of the motor bouncing on the trasom by transfering it to the crossbar at the rear of the trailer. Sorry to sound so picky, but didn't want someone to put out a bunch of money only to find out they weren't relieving weight on the transom.

I've been using a transome saver for 6 years, & it worked great, now it's rusted out beyound use, so I put a Crab Trap Buoy float in between the Motor, & Transome mount as a temporary Transome Saver.

And the call went throughout the land, Save the transom.
A transome saver is the only way to go. :excited:
I made my own and it worked real well.:meme:

If you want a great transom saver go to ve-veinc.com and they have the stuff. I own one and it is very well made, killer stout. I just started the my-wedge and really think this is the way to go. The transom in new boats are made to take the weight of the drive motor if it's an alu boat. Check with the manufactuer...peace of mind for the hyd lift is another thing. My T-8 is now on the my-wedge as well as the main Yami 115. I'll keep both for now but the my-wedge is the cats butt...

It was fairly simple.
I used a piece of 1 1/2 square tubing. opened up one end and installed the v looking rubber piece that catches the bow ( that is the technical name for it I believe:D). The other end I added a 1/2 inch piece of round stock about 3" off the end. Drill a hole in the frame right below the end center roller. The round stock went in there and the rubber on the motor. I bought a 1" rachet tie down and attached that to the tubing. I bolted the rachet part on one side and one end of he strap to the other side. I just brought it up and around the lower unit back to the rachet and tightend it up. It worked real well.:meme:
