My son pulled the lower unit of his outboard breaking four bolt in the process. The bolts look to be set in with gasket sealer and will not budge. I drilled through the bolts and am soaking with P B Blaster, I tried to us an EZ Out, but broke the tool. Am ideas on how to remove them? Ofcourse I didn't drill them dead center...

Carefully apply heat and let cool a few times helps.PB Blaster is good but there are better penetrants out there. The Prolong brand stuff is really good, FREE is the best but I havent been able to find any around here.
Aerokroil is also very good.

Be carefull applying heat if they were put in with loctite you will never get them out after heating them ...
Left handed drill bits and worst case is you have a shop put in a threaded insert ...
good luck ...

good luck getting them out if you have to drill them out and use a heli coil

I have heated the area around the tread housing with a propane torch and that did not help, I'm not sure that I want to use a welding torch. I thinking that I may get it to hot and crack or melt the aluminum.

I'll look for the prolong on line . Thanks

the use of a welding torch maybe risky.......

many lower units have been warped by heat, so that the seals and bearing no longer work correctly due to aluminum warping

Thanks! That was kind of my thought, I've only been using a lil propane torch for that reason.
