Have a 2006 tandem Ezloader with drum brakes and I want to go to a disc break set up. I have had
nothing but grief from one side locking up on this "new trailer", had it in to the dealer and they cleaned and lubed said problem side.. Took the dern thing out yesterday and dern if it didn't stay locked up again. I'm done with the dealer and want to go with to disc breaks. I know that ezloader uses the reliable brand axel and oil bath hub set up. Has anyone out there done a converison to Kodiak or other brand disc's. I guess you have to change the tounge actuator for the incerased pressure needed for disc breaks. Just wanted a reliable source for the "kit" to go from drum to disc all the nuts bolts etc to get er'done...Any help would be great...Thanks Dave.

You don't have to change the actuator, just modify it. This has been talked about a bunch recently. A quick search should answer all your questions.

I not so sure about piercing the actuator to increase pressure needed to run disc vs drums. Did order a set of kodiak brakes and the full kit to change them over. Tralierparts.com was the ticket. The folks from kodiak set me ther as they were much less there than from kodiak itself. Just need the time to get them on now. I'd rather be fishing.

Whatever you do don't put on Tiedown disc brakes, just the Grizzly's.
Tiedown brand sucks and customer support is even worse.
Just ask RatherBFishing or BOE there thoughts on Tiedown discs.
BTW: alum calipers + brass bleed valves + saltwater = seized valves that break off when you go to change pads.
My name is Mike Knifong and Tie down doesn't understand anything about galvanic corrosion.

I've yet to see an actuator that has any problem with disc brakes.

I was told that the disc set up ran at a higher pressure than the drum set ups. Hence the mod to the original actuator to increase pressure. EZ loader gave me a call after an Email but has yet to follow up after my return call with model number...dealer etc...lame. Their disc conversion was I believe the tiedown single plate set up...As I told the ez loader rep...This was not the way to go due to the massive input from this site. Ordered from Kodiak at trailerparts.com...SS calipers, cadium rotors, dual and vented, new actuator setup and will be here monday for less than ezloader would do the lesser than setup.Still havent heard back from the head cheeseloader guy since my first conversation with them...Good trailer just poor brakes. And the option is single plate setups that fail. Thanks for the info on this site...Dave

Tricker trailers hooked me up with an entire Disc system from UFP products. Easy to install. I had to change the actuator to one that had the backup cut out. Been more than pleased and had Zero problems.
