I am looking for a good station to keep all of my fly tying stuff in. I once stayed at a B&B in Duncan, BC, and they had a perfect one...sat on top of a table, had two swing open doors, with spool holders inside, drawers, the works. They said they got it at Warshal's in WA, but their website doesnt work.
Anyone know of a place to get something like this? I guess I could always build my own if I needed to.

CT: I built a chest, much like you described from plans that I got from a ff mag. Although this chest is a nice home base, it is not portable therefore, I had to pack materials into a bag. Over the years, I found that if you travel and want to take your tying equip. with you then it all made its way to the soft bag as it is easier to deal with in the car and for travel in general.
I use zip lock bags to keep like materials in and then some cigar boxes for threads and another for tools.
Give it some thought and decide first if you will be taking your materials with you or just tying from home.

Giz and I use the same system. Everything I have is in segregated Ziplocks and then stuffed into a couple of bags. When I tie, I sit down and tie a bunch and then I'm done for a while so this works for me quite well. If you plan on tying constantly, this system would rapidly be a pain in the backside.

Tying will be mostly a home project after work, or on weekends when I cant get out fishing and its crappy weather.
I'll check out some mag's to see what they have.

I actually have a desk that has all my fly tying stuff in it. But I do go on fishing vacations and like to have my equiptment with me in case I need a hot fly or to tie up jigs. I had same delimna, what to store it al in. I haad a buddy who solved it for me.
He works for the fire department and brought me home the perfect solution to my traveling problems. His department was fazing out some old EMT boxes, and gave them away. He thought I could use it, for a tackle box. Wel, come to find out this EMT box IS a tackle box. Once I looked through all the fire dept. logos I saw it was Plano 777. It has a follddown door in top thtaaccesses three pul out trays without opening maain door. I put my bobbins, thread, scissors, spindles, and misc smal stuff in these top drawers. Then, i can open up the top lid which swings the 3 drawers out of theway to main lower compartmnt. I store all my marabou, saddle hackle, and other misc big ttying materialss (including my vise).
It works great, is portable, and loads/unloads quickly.

This may not be the most idea storage box, but I us a big tackle box. It's so easy to store, and grab when I head out to destinations in eastern oregon. I do have to do some digging, but I just tie for fun any ways.

this looks like what you want:

However, I recommend another route that has served me well. I use an *old* roll top desk at home (many dividers) and a $5 thrift store plastic suitcase on the road (no dividers). Plastic bags and cedar blocks a must. This setup is nice because the desk is presentable enough to be located in the living room, where I can tie with warmth and music while other family members hang out. Then I just roll the top shut when done, leaving my carefully constructed mess intact and my half-tied flies ready for the next round

I have thought about the roll top desk idea before. Just need to see if I can find a cheap one, assuming I cant find a regular desk top modification.
Thanks for the link...I'll check it out.

Whoa! $625-$1600+ for the two workstations I liked?!? OUCH! I figured I spend a couple hundred bucks, but $600?? That was a surprise.
Anyone know of any other places to find these??
