Anyone ealse fish at or around the Fishery yesterday? I almost wish I would have stayed home. The wind was bad and got harder as the day went on. The only good thing well other then catching a few under size, was the rain was light.
Next time the weather man says 10 to 20 East winds I will think twice.

I was there yesterday also, you are right it was tough. Mr. smelt just would not stay in one place, so Mr. gurgeon could not have a snack.

Tough day to keep anchored... when the gust hit plus the 2'plus rollers with caps. I guess I should have brought the 90 lb. anchor.

The worst part I lost my lucky hat while on the bow when one of those gust hit. I had a friend from Hawaii visiting and he was sure thankful that we had a heater in the boat.

Hey fish what kind of boat do you have? I covered a lot of river maybe I saw you. Some day I will see net friend on the river.

Invader, The winds turned out to be 30 to 40, at least it sure seamed that fast.We had a hard time getting the anchor to hold. The wind blowing a spray of water over the bow every so offten sure keeped things interesting. I'm looking Forward to a better day next time around. Hope the weather is good for you Monday

Sure was a lot different than Friday. I took a friend for a boat ride that day and cruised up to Bonneville. Saw a lot of fish being landed at the Fishery and the weather was great. I couldn't wait to return the next day with my brother-in-law and sturgeon rods.

I sure was dissapointed to find all of the wind and spent more time futzing with the anchor than actually fishing.

Finally pulled out and headed back to Portland to fish Kelly Point. Wind was much less of a hassle and was able to pull in a few shakers before heading home.

I have to give credit to those who stayed and braved the wind at the Fishery. I hope some were able to take a keeper home.

Some freinds and I fished there on Saturday and had 4 keepers by 9:30 plus a couple of oversized to boot. It seemed like the fish were very aggresive, most of them hooked themselves, none of the tap tap and leaving, just sucking it down and bending the rod, I'd post a pic of our fish if I could figure out how

Bill,
Posting pics is not difficult at all. Go to the Picture Uploads link at the top of the page and follow the instructions. You will probably need a graphics tool that you can change the size of your pic with. I use ACDsee and it works great.

Now, regarding the original topic. We put in at Swan Island on Saturday and went out around Kelly Point. Caught a couple shakers and the wind picked up. Decided to go back in the Willamette and try one of my honey holes. 5 hours of fishing brought us 17 nice sized shakers, 1 44" keeper on the stringer and one around 46 - 48" lost right at the boat.

At least it was blowing downstrean. We fished at the fishery for a while then went to tanner creek. It was much calmer up there just like a lake. Saw some oversize and a few keepers caught but the action was slow. We went back down and anchord in the wind to catch shakers. Took 48oz to stay on the bottom at tanner.
