jawbreaker

A funny thing happened to me in northeast Oregon
last weekend. I was exploring the Grande Ronde for steelies on a weekend trip to visit my brother. We saw tons of deer and more wild turkeys than I've ever seen. We're a couple miles from the Wasington border and the river looks good. I had hooked into a couple steelies and landed a huge 24" Dolly Varden which was quickly released. Steep canyon walls with a spectacular view on both sides were awesome. The weather was perfect. I couldn't have asked for more.......or could I? As we came around another windy turn, my jaw dropped from amazement and disbelief. My eyes must have been playing tricks on me because I just couldn't believe what I saw charging towards the truck. Fifty yards away and not looking happy about our presence was
approxamately 500 pounds of Bighorn Sheep baring down on my Dodge Ram. Was it Ram vs Ram? Just as I thought I was going to have a messy insurance claim, I stopped the truck and braced for impact. Fortuneately, the Bighorn stopped 5 feet in front of the rig and was posturing to show his dominance. Staring right at us for about 30 seconds waiting for us to make a move. Obviously ******, the big sheep took off around the truck and trotted down the gravel road.
I poked my head out the window and looked back still in disbelief of what had just happened and kicking myself for leaving the camcorder and camera on the table at home. I did talk to a man who did get it on video who was 100 yards down the road but didn't get his name. Hopefully, he will see this. It just goes to show that you never know what you will encounter when you're enjoying the outdoors. Brent
