Well it's time once again, the bargins are out there. Today is my wife and her mothers Opening Day. Rivaled by few.

Yesturday they did their scouting; searching ads, comparing prices, sale hours, time they would start, the best route to cover the most ground in the least amount of time. This year, my nine year old will get her first taste of this passage of womenhood in her family.

While they were getting ready, I joke about taking my gps and packing enough food and water to last them a night in the wild. My wife promtly replied, "Oh they provide refreshments, doughnuts, coffee, and tea."

"Wow" I told her, "sounds like a rough time." But ya know you would be hard pressed to get me to go out there today. But it got me thinking, how nice it would be to have doughnuts and coffee provided for me on my opening days. Imagine a boat pulling up side to refill your thermos, grab a few doughnuts.

Since I will be watching the little one today, I asked about what time she would be home. This is when she got me back for the last few months of hunting, "When I get one" . I Guess I had this coming, but this will allow for future opening days  . So all in all, I get to go fishing again, and hey I may get some cool stuff too. My wife, she gets that feeling you only get from reeling in a true monster or bagging that big bull. Oh she'll be tired when she gets home, she'll even say "Never again", but I know just as well as she does, she'll be out there again next year. It's how things stay balance, I guess.

Cutter,

You're such a good sport!

I suppose your inferrence (that men and women can both be hunters) has some merit. You only have to be able to redefine such things as "Going into the wild, and You against the elements."

I was actually the one to get the shopping bug this year. GI joes has (had) abu-garcia uc 4601 c reels for $21.99. I had to work so my partner went down early and had to stand in line. When the doors opened some people were running. He managed to scoop up 7 (3 for me 4 for him) before they were all gone. He said the pile disappeared in about two minutes.

3 reels for $66 not to shabby
