THE KIWANDA KID

My oldest and I went fishing Sunday on LBC. This kid skunks me every time and I couldnt be prouder for it. I wish that I would have taken my camera with us. The weather was beautiful and the mountains were out. we didnt catch alot of fish but the time we shared was awesome. He just turned thirteen and I am milking all the time I can before he gets smarter than the old man and finds other things to do. I doubt I will have any problems in getting him to go fishing or hunting though as it seems those are the only days he is up before me and is making the lunch or coffee for the trip. I let him skipper all day and he learned a couple new cuss words when the TR1 Auto pilot was kicking my a$$. ( Lord I appologize) It was pretty rare for me to even get a Saturday off so he was doubly surprised when he found the truck hooked up to a boat when he went outside to wash it. We started late mostly cuz it was kind of a last minute thing on my part but the weather was just to darn nice. Any how he did great at the wheel and even barked some orders at me and gave me a little hell for forgetting the net when he hooked up. we had one drive bye on a Bull and caught one Koke. we ran up the Crooked arm before taking out and got into a good school of Rainbows. All were released as he and I cant stand to eat them. Saw alot of boats and an ifisher as well. The fish checker was in no fear of wearing out her pencil from what I could tell. Looks like we may wait for some warmer water temps and see what happens for Smallies in a month or so. I hope to go for Bulls again soon though. Take care. TKK

TKK,
Thanks for the report. I look forward to getting my kids out fishing with me as much as they want when they get older. I took a guy from work that had never done any downrigger fishing so it was kind of like taking a kid. He was very excited seeing the fish hit. They were all on the small side and only had one that actually popped the clip on the downrigger. He was the biggest of the day at 20". We had pretty consistent action using herring. It was my first time to finally catch a bull, I had tried a couple other times but was unsuccessful. Looking for an excuse to get back out and try find a big one. It definitely is a neat fishery.

What a great mmemory. I love fishin with my kids. I got tired of forgetting my camera so bought a disposable water proof camera I keep in the boat at all times. You can not buy back days like this. They are more of a gift than most realize. Keep up the good work Dad.
