Hello all. I usually post to the hunting forums but I have been itching to head to Ana resevoir and try for a hybrid, a species I have never caught and would love to add to the list. Does anyone have any information on these fish or the resevoir? I have been there, unfortunatly not to fish (on the way through for coyotes) so I know the general layout of the lake, and I have read a few thing from fihing in Oregon, and Shewey's new Guide to fishing in Oregon. That is about it though. Any advice is appreciated.

You can't go wrong fishing Ana for hybrids. The state record hybrid comes from that body of water. I understand that the best time to get the big ones is now. Go early if possible. Past records have been caught on dyed shrimp.

Good luck!

If you're chasing hybrids stick to the upper part of the lake. You'll see a lot of points jutting out into the lake and thats where you'll want to fish. Hybrids are caught this time of year early and late in the day so look for the fire pits and you'll be in a popular spot. As far as bait goes go with nightcrawlers or sand shrimp. If you want to fish for trout you'll want to go right off the dam, just south of the concrete structure. Thats the deepest part of the lake and there's always trout there.

Dale at the Summer Lake store can give you some pointers too. If you stop in there tell him his shotgun shell prices are way too high - he'll get a good chuckle out of it...

Have fun

Never fished Ana, but caught alot of hybrids in Tx.
Minnow type shassy shad(aka swim baits) are good.
For bait, crawfish works well also.

I'm head over there Saturday a.m. I've hunted over there a few times but never had the chance to try for the "Wipers". It's gonna be COLD but if I can hook into one of them it would be worth it!
