I was thinking of making the drive to HAGG lake from Milwaukie for my 8 year olds Birthday fishing trip. Is it awful and not worth the ride?:(

Fish the stream inlets on west end. Dam side has dirty water and tons of debrie.

Not lots of fish caught because water temp is in 40's.

You can still catch fish if you stay with it.

Would only take one fish to make that birthday special.

I went to hagg last sunday, the water was about 49 degrees with only three feet of visability.

i would suggest going to somewhere that have been recently stocked. Salem ponds, st. louis, or any of those depending on how far you want to go or drive. Good luck and try different things powerbait to worms...

Fished Hagg yesterday for 5 hours, not a single take down. Water temp was 45. I will wait for a weeks before going again.

Fished all day Sun. The water was still murky and some debris still floating around. Temp varied from 46 to 49 depending on what end of the lake you were in. I only saw one small fish caught for very few boats. I had one take down and got to feel it for a couple secs before it ran and broke my line.:( I gave a guy a jump that said he had one to the boat that was close to 30" s before it broke his line. Maybe in a couple more weeks.

I fished it monday morning with one take down and no landed fish. I have gotten my first skunk of the year out of the way now, so I can check that one off the list. Saw an eagle try to catch a few but he was having the same luck I was. One interesting thing to report: I heard (did not see) big fish jumping in and around the debris fields in the middle of the lake. I think they were after the bugs that use the floaters for a perch out there in the middle of all that water. They were probably smallmouth, but if they were trout they were big. If I had more time i would have headed over there and casted a little after I heard the third or fourth big jump. Has anyone else seen this?

I was out at hagg earlier today, skunked, I usually get skunked out there but then again I usually am not up there early. I was out by Sain creek, saw a big old spawned out looking trout, all white and blue with brown algae looking stuff on him.......lol......when he stopped he would lay on his side on some rocks and just lay there then he would start swimming again after about ten minutes or so. then I moved down through a few other spots and wound up at the dam where I saw a few planters caught. I need to get my motor going on my boat......lol......

I'd take him to Horning Hidaway (or hideout, whatever.) I hear they have some nice fish. Look it up in the yellow book or ???? It's up on Pumpkin Ridge/skyline.
