I was horridly misunderstood when i bonk bass i eat them and use the head as crawfish or possum bait. I would never waste a living creature if thats what you thought i meant you have every reason to be upset. Also i have only bonked bass from places like the john day that have lots of native trout. Never from places like hagg or the willamette that i would consider a disaster zone for natives. I also follow all regs when harvesting bass. Again im very sorry for offending you.
Edit: Mods feel free to close this i just wanted everyone to understand i dont go around bonking bass and chucking them back in.
Or mabey we can have a discution about invasive game fish boath sound good to me.

Sean, i think they misunderstood the bonking part. i think they thought you were suggesting you kill every bass, far beyond your limit. i didnt take it that way. some people are a little sensitive, and look for the worst in people. kudos for you apologizing like a man and not arguing over who was right or wrong. the world needs more people like you in it.:twocents:

As long as Sean is retaining the fish in areas where retainment is allowed, there is nothing wrong here. While some folks advocate sending the larger fish back into the water, he does not.
Let's be nice to each other, mmkay? We're here to share our love of the sport, not lob bombs at one another due to differences.
Thanks,
David

Washington has upped the limit on smallies in the Columbia river because more need to be harvested so if you can eat them I see nothing wrong with a nice meal once in awhile.

If you are talking about the rule change printed below, it doesn't start till May 1, 2008 and as far as the Columbia River is concern it only for above Priest Rapids Dam.
Proposal: Replace current general Statewide Bass Rule with a specific statewide rule for smallmouth bass and a specific statewide rule for largemouth bass.
Statewide Largemouth Bass Rule - No minimum size. Only bass less than 12” may be retained, except 1 over 17” may be retained. Daily limit 5. Bass may be caught, retained and released alive from a livewell until a daily limit is in possession.
Statewide Smallmouth Bass Rule – No min. size. Only 1 over 14” may be retained. Daily limit 10. Bass may be caught, retained and released alive from a livewell until a daily limit is in possession.
These rules would be applied statewide with the following exceptions: Columbia River from Priest Rapids Dam downstream to mouth, Palouse River from the mouth upstream to the base of Palouse Falls, Snake River, Grande Ronde River, Touchet River from mouth upstream to the confluence of North and South Forks, Walla Walla River from mouth upstream to Touchet River and to Oregon State boundary and all tributaries, except Mill Creek, Yakima River from mouth upstream to Hwy 223 Bridge, Stan Coffin Lake (Grant Co.).
If you have more info then please share.

Thanks for clarifying... I did misunderstand your post. I pictured you bonking bass and tossing them overboard!
It was big of you to post this-- I saw in another post that you are 6' 7", so I imagine you don't find yourself having to apologize very often!

Sean, thanks for the clarification!! I too pictured you bonking and tossing fish over the side. I too apologize for jumping on you like that. We just get too much bass bashing over here and kind of get tired of it.
cheers!!
