Guys & Gals, I got the Tie Master I ordered thanks to Jim Rivers. I really liked the old one I had and was bummed when I lost it. I like the way it fits in your hand (as compared to other tying aids) on the market. Chalk another one up to the Ifish community.

help me out here, what is a tie master? Is it like a nail knot tool?
Thanks,
Tag
The Tie Master is a knot tying tool that yes ties a knot similar to the nail knot. Joe Little the tools designer and inventer of the knot it ties spent countless hours perfecting it and testing it. He even went to Berkelys lab and had them test the knot...awesome results.
Oh, just so everybody knows my last name isn't rivers...I have tried to change that through yahoo but it just doesn't work...oh well...Bain is the real last name.

I am also curious, what the heck is this thing and what do you use it for? Anybody got a picture?

Will-e-fish, check out the attached link for details. http://www.tie-master.com/
Jim, from your email I thought it somewhat coincidental that you were a guide and also had the last name Rivers but just made the wrong assumption.

Dave
It looks like a plastic version of the aluminum TyFast knot tyer I've been using for 35 years. I've seen a half dozen similar tools ... they are all handy.
Pete,
The tool is similar yes. But the knot which is far superior is actually patented.

Pete, I have a Ty Fast as well, but I like the way the Tie Master fits in my hand. I think the knot is easier to tie, especially when you are standing on your feet in the field with the wind blowing etc. It is open after the tip and I use my thumb to hold the loop and that is the biggest difference (ease of use) that I see over the Ty Fast.
