Yesterday I fished with Fish-on-Bend (Joe) for opening day of the Metolius Arm at Lake Billy Chinook. I trolled herring while Joe used mainly Lyman plugs. I caught this small Bull trout to start the day off.

We ended up with four Bulls for the day. They were all about 18” long, and were caught with the downriggers set at 70-85’ deep. Nice day on the water, and Joe is good fishing company!

Glad to have you aboard Mike. Funny thing about yesterday, we saw probably 50 or more boats, most bull fishing, some after kokanee and we never saw another fish caught or another net fly all day. No fish census taker at the dock which surprised me so I don't know how many big ones were caught, if any. Anyone else make it out?

Nice work fellas. Hey Joe, a client of mine said he caught a snake of a fish. 33and a half inches long and only 11 pounds. They hooked him while jigging for Kokes on 4lb test. 22 minutes later they got him up. Unfortunatley the bugger was near bled out when they got him up they couldnt even see the plug and they still cant figure out how he didnt just shred the line. Go figure. Looks like you had a great day guys. Thanks for the report Waterfish.

Well done guys, I went with my dad on Sunday morning we caught one fish on a lyman plug down around the dam (forgot that the metolius arm opened and didn't have a tribal permit). It was also a "snake of a fish" The pictures are on my dad's camera but he was 29" and weighed 6lbs. His mouth and head were huge he could have easily swallowed a softball and the rest of him was just plain skinny. The Fish and wildlife lady that was checking fish at the ramp said that she checked in 50 boats on Saturday and only saw 8 fish.

Can anyone tell me if the ramp is back to normal yet?

Mostly, the water is a bit low but the docks are back in and the ramp is functional. It was a little interesting on Sunday. When we launched right around daylight it was 22 degrees so the water that dripped off the trailers from boats that had already been launched had frozen and there is nothing slicker than wet ice.
