Today my girlfriend Jenny and I went to try our luck (we're so clueless about fishing at this point, there's really no skill involved :D) at St. Louis Ponds down past Woodburn. Fished in pond #3 from 3pm to 6pm when they closed the gate and didn't see a single fish caught. Saw a guy carrying a stringer of a few nice ones, but no idea what he was using or what time he caught them. I would have liked to get an earlier start, but it was a last minute thing, and three hours of afternoon fishing is better than no fishing at all!

Jenny first tried a bobber with Powerbait, but it wasn't a slip bobber and I don't believe she was down deep enough. I tried a bobber with a nightcrawler, but didn't have any luck either. I then took the bobber off and tried casting for a while, that didn't work either. I warned you guys we have no idea what we're doing, right? :D Finally, I tried casting a Panther Martin for a while, with no success. All and all, we had a great time getting out. I heard a rumor that the guy who had the stringer of fish was using a spinner.

Good Luck!

Sounds like you were doing the right things. Heres a few tips. When using powerbait with a bobber,,,make sure you use just enough bait that your hook will sink and not float. Just the opposite when fishing power bait on the bottom. Set your baited hook in the water before casting and see what it does, then adjust it. Also, if your not getting any bites with your bobber, adjust your depth till you start getting bites. Some times, when fishing for trout with either a bobber, or on the bottom, if you have not gotten a bite in a while, reel in a bit then stop, sometimes that will trigger a bite. And i always put the worm on so its straight, i think that gets more bites than a glob of worm. Hope this helps you guys!

Thanks for the tips! We'll try that next time we head out there :D
