I fished from swan island all the way to the mouth figuring hey we had some warm weather why not go out and try to catch some fish. Well to make a long story short it just ended up being a day of drowning baits and having a few good laughs with some friends. Anybody else have luck this weekend?

Ya, PPO showed me how to get rock bass off the jetty. Thanks, PPO!

My pleasure, F-F. FYI to readers, we brought home 9 out of 10 and lost four, two of which broke the line as we tried to lift them over the rocks. Nice afternoon. Generally sunny with only a gentle breeze from the North. sorry no pics. Neither of us blesses the camera.

Where "we" equals me!! :applause: But thanks for not fronting me out. ;) Have you ever used slip bobbers there? I'm thinking of modifications to make to avoid losing fish over the rocks next time. The heavier line is an obvious place to start. But the long crappie pole might be an investment that's overdue.

I went out Friday afternoon for a few hours to my favorite spring spot but had no luck. Well, I lucked out that it was beautiful and not raining like the weather man said.

A few of us from the forum – Kstock (me), TuanChau (Tuan), MXRacer (Ryan), and Ryan’s friend Matt - hit the Willi yesterday out of Boone Bridge after noon (water temp 47.5, 27K CFS). Though when we left it was sunny, by the time we started fishing we got pounded on… both rain and hail (of course). We fished for a few hours without a bite. Then, just when spirits were waning and we were about ready to give up… out of nowhere - BAM! Tuan nails a 15”, 1 lbs - 11 oz Smally on an orange/red Norman crank in one of my secret spots. It was his first fish of the year and a beauty. Suddenly there was life among the troops. You'll never see a gang of fisherman each switch to an orange crank bait of some kind faster in your lives! The river didn’t give up another fish the rest of the afternoon, however, and on the way home we got pelted with hail and rain once more (and if there is one thing I learned… it’s that hail in the face really hurts at 30MPH and I can’t imagine what it would feel like at 65). At the end of the day the tally was 1 fish, 2 hail storms, and 4 wet and cold dedicated Bass fisherman that all had a great time. Guys, thanks for the fun day… let’s do it again soon!

It was probably the worst weather I've ever fished in but thats where you show your perseverance. Atleast now we know that rain and hail won't stop a group of determined fishermen.

Yeah, that was some gnarly weather, but fun for sure... I just couldn't believe the weather... no rain while hooking up the boat, driving there, unloading, but as soon as the we put the hammer down to run down river, the skys opened up!! I cant remember being in a hail storm that hard in a long time....
And congrats again on your first fish of the year Tuan.... even though you out fished me again...
Had a great time, we will have to do it again very soon...
And congrats Jade, you need to slow down, I think you have caught more fish than the rest of us combined so far this year....

I fished for three hours below Hebb Park and didn't see a fish. Tried seams, tried shoreline, tried rocky points and boulder fields... nada. It rained so hard I bailed a five gallon bucket of water from my boat when I got home.

Thanks for the photo's guys. I like the second one down on KStock's post with Ryan in the background, hands up, probably yelling "Hey, thats MY fish, bring it back here!"

Yeah, I was laughing at that one too... The best one is the bottom pic, where I am franticly tying on the same lure type of lure Tuan was using...

The first picture is the amazing shot. Kurts boat deck is normally grey but in the picture it looks white from all the hail.:applause:
