Sam,
Way to go! With FNF working the next few nights, we need someone above McNary to keep up the battle.
I gotta ask, regarding the straightened hooks, which lure were you using, and if the Vortex, did you go to the effort to change to the #4 Gamakatsu trebles (barbless)?

What a treat, 6 hours on the water 10 hook-ups 3 in the box 8# 12# and 15#. 7 of the largest nates.way too much fun. I've caught a freight trains before but this was an amtrak. nearly spooled me three diffrent times only to return at full speed. if i had to guess i'd say close to 30 mph. after at least 15 min. i got him close enough to the boat to get a look at him. in comparsion to the 15# in the box this guy had to be near 18#.when the light hit him he went nuts. jumped a least 3' straight up did a tail walk with such strenght he straightened two of the three hooks on the front treble. WOW. with my arms aching and knees trembling i colasped in pure joy.WOW again and again. I'll be reliving that for a while. less than 10 boats and fog kinda comming and going all i can say is "WHAT A TREAT"

Vinny,
I was unable to find #4 gamma's so i tryed #4 VMC.
(worlds best fishing hook)yea right... the sharpness was acceptable however the hardness sucked. they worked to boat a lot of fish but needed mending after each hog... lost a lure to the fact that I was running a snap which was way toooo light and looked like a pig's tail when the monster metalhead was done with it. if we were in hatcherys only everything would have been fine. however with all that wild action my tackle took a beaten... and wouldn't want it any other way.

the tug drivers must of known you weren't out on friday night.... their target was gone so they were most curtious. I need to talk to you on what you use for power on your elect motor.I got a brand new top of the line deep cycle and ony got 4.5 hrs. is that normal? (good thing it was a loaner) maybe my motor is poor.(looking at a whole new system. Merry Christmas to me) GPS was a great reasureance tool. never got completely turned around. just a little confused which made for lots of laughs in the boat. had a friend when rinsing out the pee bucket swears he hit a fish.
it was to funny to see every body look at us.we had to wait for 5-6 boats to pull out so we could put in.they'd just look at us in our winter warmth and shake their heads. wish they were there 6 hours later to hear about OUR night. lots of guys i talked to had been there all day for 1 or 2 hook ups and nobody had more than 2 fish. let me see 14 hours for 2 little guys or 6 hours for 10 rippers... Bumper Chrome,
I have a 24 volt Minn Kota Auto Pilot. It is a wireless remote. 48 lbs thrust. It just keeps going and going and etc. They don't make the wireless anymore. I don't know why. I have had 0 problems with mine. I read about your near miss. Scary stuff! I have another hot spot for you. Ringold on the Columbia is kicking out a lot of steelhead. Some of my friends have been taking daily limits. It just opened recently. See ya on the water!
