I think that I had the most fun today fishing in a long time today. My 13 old son and I left Wilsonville about 6:00am and picked up a good fishin friend in West Linn and headed for the fishery got the boat in the water at about 7:30 and went to a spot that Big Eddie told us about.
It took three time to get achor to hold (winds about 40mph).
Put our lines in and it was FISHON from there. We brought 40 to the boat and not one keeper but it sure was fun. The biggest was about 36" and the smallest was about 15".
I think the great thing of all was watching my son land his first sturgeon.
Lets just say that in 2 years I know the spot. I would like to give a big thanks to Big Eddie for the help in putting us at the hot spot.loose lips our not. WD40??

PS there was about 6 boats around me and only say a total of 12 fish from them, no keepers. Was it the Motion Marine Boat that we had????? Thanks Mark for Building the Best.

I guess fisherman are like the postal workers.
No rain. snow, slet or anything can keep them from their route.
A little wind never hunts a fisherman.
Its just one of Gods great creations.

WENt to the fishery at first light Saturday. The wind was steady at about 25 mph and I only expected it to get worse. My two guests were not dressed for the experience, so I turn tail and headed downstream and around the corner. Approaching Portland in the light you could see the chop on the water with the tops coming off.
Much calmer downstream and the water was flat. Anchored up in my favorite hole with about 10 other boats and set my timer. After 30 minutes and no bites exept sculpins, I moved downstream to a spot I've never fished. After 5 minutes the rods started working. Not another boat for about a 1/2 mile. We had several doubles and one triple with steady action. We ended up with 18 in the boat, 2 keepers 45 and 46 in 3 hours. Released (long line) an obvious keeper when it spit the hook while jumping clean out of the water.
The slack tide and short incoming were phenomenal. On the slack and subsequent swing around, we fished straight down under the boat in 50 feet of water. I think we caught 8 or 9 including the two keepers during that short period.

Monday was good for my boat and a buddy in his boat at the Fishery Monday. Limits for all, (six fish) by 3pm. Plenty of shaker action. Mainly on squid or sand shrimp.

Mondays report, just in winds not as bad as Friday, but cold none the less in a open boat! We started at daylight had about 30 to 40 fish on 1 keeper of 43'' and a over size that smoked a reel.
Fishing with salmon gear is a kick. We had enough by 1:00 so headed in to thaw out.
