I was curious to see how some of you pack your soft plastics along. Do you keep them in the packaging, put them in boxes, or some other creative way?

I either bank fish or use my pontoon boats so large boxes aren't really a good option for me. Any ideas?

Up until this year I have always kept them in bags but this year I am going to try boxes. The one thing I have learn from others is never keep your plastics in the same bot as your hook. All the salt in the soft plastics will rust out your hooks.

I bought one of those Shimano tackle binders with the individual bags.... seems to work well so far. I was worried about remembering the names and brands of all the soft plastics I had in there, so I used a piece of masking tape and wrote the important details on each case...

But after I ran out of "pages" I started using boxes for some of them as well....

I like to keep them in the original package. They seem to stay better. Also if the bite is hot I can take the pack out and flop it on the deck without having to break into the box every time to rig up. Also I have found some of the colors will run when mixed accidently.

This is what I have. When you run out of pages use heavy ziplocks...just put a few holes for the ring binders to go through:twocents:

Worm wallet fan here too. These Quantum (http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Quantum-Worm-Wallet-Tackle-Bait-Lures-Fly-Fishing_W0QQitemZ200203467530QQihZ010QQcategoryZ22 696QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) ones are the ones I use.
I keep a few extra hooks, split shots and jigs in the bag as well.
Many days this is all I dig into.

I prefer to use ziplocks as my Alluring Baits "Trick Stix" are saturated with scents. And I add extra pickling salt too.
And some of my plastic craws and jig trailers are garlic. Wouldn't want the scents to pollute one another.

I recently switched over to using the original bags again, one because im doing most of my fishing out of my boat now, and two because I got tired of all the original, replacement, and ziploc bags ripping out of my binder. If you can find a binder with heavy enough bags it would deffinatly be worth it though.

I keep them in the original bags and pile them in the top compartment of my big plano box. If I run out of a particularly product color or style, I have the package to take to the store to replace them with.

I use the original packages, but keep them all in a BPS soft plastics bag. Only down side is you can put enough in one that it becomes HEAVY!

As you can see, there is elastic for dough, or GULP jars and small zippered areas that work well for hooks/weights

I used to put them in boxes with my jig heads and hooks, but learned fast that that does not work great. Now I have a jig box and just keep the plastics in the original packing. Some of the plastics do bleed together. But I have learned that if you put the right two colors together you can get some awesome "new" multi-colored plastics.

I hear ya on using the original bags vs. the binders.
But here's a tip on making a hybrid worm wallet that uses the orig bags.....
Take a zipped pouch similar in size to a worm wallet and stitch a length of Velcro (hook side) down the center of the pouch. Good excuse to break out the wife's sewing machine and see how bad you can goof it up. he, he.

Take your bait bags and cut a section of the loop side of the velcro and pinch it around the bag opposite of the ziplock. Put it in the pouch and wiggle it against the hook side of velcro until it latches on. Whala! Done.
You can add worm bags as you see fit and you can rip them out easliy w/o having to mess with the rings on the regular worm binders.

Velco is cheap and you can keep extra on the boat for adding fresh bags at any time.
Any Craft or sewing store will carry velcro. Super cheap.

Also, another use for Velcro. Velcro dots on your walleye crankbaits works well for adding scents. I also use them on my salmon lures, Brads, Clancys, and Quickfish. Sometimes I'll mash a little chunk of sardine on the dot and put the hook side of the dot over it to hold the meat on. Hey it works!

PS, I'll have to pop some pics to illustrate how to make the velcro binder.
