I carry four rods when I fish for bass. What does everyone else like to carry?

1: 7 ft medium spinning rod with fast tip 6# test (drop shot rigs, soft plastics)

2: 7 ft medium spinning rod with medium/fast tip 8# test (jerkbaits)

3: 7 ft medium baitcasting rod with fast tip 12 # test (heavier soft plastic rigs, spinnerbaits, jigs)

4: 7 ft medium baitcasting (fiberglass) with medium tip 10# test (deep diving crankbaits)

2 spinning outfits and 3 baitcasters. All are inexpensive Berkley Cherrywoods.

Spinning outfits are 6' and 6.5' light and med action w/ Pflueger Trion reels w/ 6lb Co polymer P-Line.

Baitcasters are 6.5' med action, w/ Quantum reels. 14lb mono on the crankbait & spinnerbait rods and 30lb XP Plus braid w/ a 10lb Maxima mono leader on the jig/tubes rod.

If I were to count them I might feel a little guilty, so let's just say my dad only lets me bring 10 along on his boat! About the only thing I don't have is a swimbait rod, but my flipping sticks will work for the swimbaits until I actually find one I wan't!
p.s don't ever keep all your rods in one spot, because you're wife can count them and use that as ammo!

you dont like using fluro for your leader on jigs and tubes?

I haven't noticed a difference between fluorocarbon and standard line with bass. It just doesn't seem like I get any more or less strikes with either. The only time I really start to notice a difference is when braided line loses its color. I no longer use braids or super-lines, so it doesn't matter.

I have noticed a BIG difference on strikes with trout when using standard leader and fluorocarbon leader. Using the same bait, leader length and cast distance, I've out-fished friends three or four to one using fluorocarbon leaders on trout.

I am easy I like my 5' UL Ugly Stick Lite and 7' Ugly Stick Lite... My Reddington 8wt fly rod works pretty well also.

I don't want to speek for Mike but I would use the mono with the braid so that it would have a little give on the hook set.:twocents:

I catch all my bass casting from the bank by my house on the lower willy. I use my ultra lite tinyest pole to cast rubber morsels in the eel pattern. Works for me since Im not eating them Im looking for the fight.

Typically I will have 4 rods with me:

1. Lammi, Power 1, 6.6', Currado level line, 12# Maxima: Cranks and some top water.

2. Lammi, Power 1, 6.6', Trion level line, 6# P-line: Drop Shot

3. Cherywood, Medium tip, 7', Symetre 750 spin cast, 8# Gama: Tubes and Texas Rig

4. Fenwick, medium tip, 7', Symetre 750 spin cast, 6# Gama: weightless soft plastics

I like using the Fenwick trout rod for weightless soft plastics because I found I can chuck them a bit further out and it has great action and sensitivity.

I'm still trying different lines but that is what happens to be on at this point. I like the Maxima for cranks because it is strong enough to get most anything un-snagged. I'm not convinced on the Gama yet but will give it a month or so.

No issues with a floro leader, just don't keep a spool of it with me and I do the Maxima. (That's the leader I use for walleye harnesses.)
So use floro if you like, certainly strong enough stuff.

I tie a double uni-knot of a simple barrel/blood knot and the braid half of the knot seems to fly right through the guides fine. Try to match leader size to be the same diameter as the braid, otherwise it ties harder and the braid half of the knot won't protect the mono/floro half as well.

PS: Pitch, your off to a good start but still have a LONG ways to go to catch the rest of us rod/reel hoes.
The wife went out to the garage, did a OMG and started counting....gave up around 30.
HEY...a fella's gotta have spares right?!!?

I just tried using fluorocarbon as my main line on my Curado. TOO MUCH MEMORY! If you get a bird's nest, the line stays all kinked up. I wasn't terribly impressed by it as a main line. I still like it for leaders, but I'll stick to something else for a main line.
