Bass on sauvies island

I just moved to sauvies island last summer. By the time I was ready to fish the refuge was closed so i never had the chance to explore. Does anyone here know of any spots where i can catch decent sized bass and crappie. I know some lakes don't have fish but some do. Does anyone know if the tidal water of sturgeon lake is better than the lakes with no tide like mcnary and steelman lake.

I spent a weekend on Sauvies, throwing everything but the kitchen sink and not a single bite (last summer). I saw trout and panfish being caught, but no bass. Maybe I should have tried that kitchen sink.
