Im looking into getting a swim bait rod and reel. Ive had alot of good luck with Lamiglas Rods and absolutely love them. Does anyone have any suggestions for which Lamiglas rod would be best for Swim Baits? Here are a few I have been looking at...

http://lamiglas.com/prod_indiv.php?groupid=17

There are a few Swim Bait rods in there at 7 power rating. Any suggestions? I think it was Dave telling me last year that even a salmon rod would work? I may be misremembering though.

Suggestions and information would be great, thanks

Hey Brett- you want advice?? Here it is: You would be NUTS to spend 300.00 on a swimbait rod. Alot of you younguns have no idea what you're in for. Swimbaiting can be GRUELING! 90% of the guys that "commit" to it drop off almost immediately. It can be unbelievably boring. On rods, use salmon backbouncing rod and find out if you even like swimbaiting. Or, buy a 100.00 Okuma. In your lifetime, you will never notice a difference in # of fish caught between this and the Bill Siemantel rods, which are backbouncing rods that Bill gave his knod of approval on. Just trying to give some solid advice to hard-working college student!! (by hard work I'm referring, ofcourse to you're hunting- he he)

Dave, thanks for the information. I know we had talked about this before but I couldnt remember alot of what you had told me. I was just over at Casey's house and he was showing me his set up and exactly what I need. From what you had told him and I just read, it sounds like It's not as expensive as I was thinking. Thanks for the advice Dave!

about 4 hours of that is my limit , Its heck to get old ...

Dave,
Heavy action or Med Heavy?......how many ounce are yours rated for?
I have some okuma backbouncers but I'm afraid they are too old with low modulas graphite...in otherwords, HEAVY.
Do you know what modulas yours are?

I only know actions in speed and mine are all mod-fast, which is a pretty fast taper. A slower action will work great, they just don't make many heavy rods with a slower taper. My two big rods are rated 1 to 8 oz lures and 2 to 8 oz. The 1 to 8 is rated 12 to 30 lb line, the 2 to 8 is rated 17 to 40. the heavier rod gets WAY more use (they're all 8 ft). I chuck smaller swimbaits on my jig rods, which are 7 feet and really broomsticky. My jig rods are IMX or GLX, the swimbait rods are GL2. I have one of the lamiglass rods that might be like IM6 or so??
