The weather was to good to pass up.Once again not exactly a largemouth or smallmouth, but they fight darn good. It's a good way for the kids to feel a jig bite.http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r235/super-fluke/ajfishs-2.jpg

Thanks again for the fillets- we gorged on them last night. My wife and daughter are thankful that even if we don't have a fisherman in the family, we have friends that are- he he

What kind of fishes are those? surfperch? They are largemouth that went to the ocean & the salt turned them black, just kidding. They are black rockfish found in the ocean.Good table fair, they fight pretty good. They are fun for the kids to catch.Size range 2-5lbs.

what kind of bait/lures do you use for those guys? I'm sorta interested in getting into that and don't have the slightest idea what to do.

If you want to use bait sandshrimp or anchovies will work.As far as lures go curly tails, swimbaits, twintail curly tails, anything that imitates a small fish.Good luck

Nice catch and good eats!!!
On an incoming tide they are pretty easy to catch off the north Garibaldi jettie, along with other tasty critters. All the plastics stated above work great....but bring some sanshrimp or squid just in case. Bring plenty of tackle if you haven't done it before.
