Who is all going to be headed to Hagg for the opener? What techniques are you going to be using?

I'll be there on the 2nd with my cousin. we'll have one pole trolling(probabally a ford fender and wedding ring) and the other will be casting a spinner towards shore. i like to find a pretty good sloping beach to fish. orange chartreuse mix powerbait 20inches off the bottom will almost always produce.

I'm gonna give it a go with my son and nephew. We'll probably try a little of everything - troll, plunk, bobbers, maybe throw some spinners.

I work the Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. So will probably be up there on Thursday following the opener.

I'll probably be out there and I'll probably be trying for some trout with a spoon and maybe some deep bass.

Looking for deep bass with a jig or dropshot. Using my elctronics and learning my new Christmas GPS. Working out the bugs in the boat after a winter of storage.

Bring on the fish...I have a real bad case of spring fever. I will be running hoochies on downriggers about 10 feet down. Looking for the holdovers.

"Are the docks going to be crowded?"

There's no fishing allowed from the docks, if that's what you're asking. There is however TONS of bank access.

Powerbait will be my weapon of choice and I will use my steelhead approach where I will fish a spot for about 30mins to an hour. I should be able to find some good fish around :meme: 9,000 yesterday :meme: I sure hope they added some that are about this :thisbig:big.... Hopefully meet some of you ifishers out there. BTW does anyone know where I can get a hagg pass before opening day??? PM's welcomed.

You can always park to the side of "the line" and walk over and pay at the self service machine- away you go!

If i'm not mistaken there is a wheelchair accessable fishing dock by boat ramp C.

Don't forget that there is also a bicycle race that happens around the lake on Sunday. Be cautious as you round those corners.

From the ODFW Recreation Report:

Henry Hagg Lake ready for opener
ODFW stocked Henry Hagg Lake with over 300 broodstock rainbow trout in addition to 21,000 legal sized rainbow in preparation for the March 1st opener.

I'll be there- although somewhat reluctantly.......I was completely skunked the last TWO years in a row on opening day out there:bigshock: I think I will concentrate more on trying to catch a brooder or two since I've had some luck over the winter in other places hooking them up.(if you're NOT going to catch anything- it might as well be BIG!)

In past years I have seen very few IFISH stickers out there on the first day. I've always felt( due to many eyes watching me as I went by) that there were many Ifishers there but they were in unmarked stealth vehichles! So if you are there and incognito- please wave and say Hi in person instead of posting the next day and saying was that you in the...........I won't remember a thing.

Smokercraft/ BLACK TOP/ IFISH STICKERS! And I'll have room for company if anyone wants to ride along- have all gear, just bring lunch-can pick up at Dock A at ANY TIME.

Curious, I checked the 2008 stocking dates and Hagg Lake dates I found are as follows.

3/31/08 12,000 legal.

What dates are actually correct.

Dont have my I fish stickers on my boat due to a couple nasty run-ins on the BIG C was threatened due to being a I fish member. So I will be out in my 18ft bayrunner cant miss it looks like a big dory white johnson main black merc kicker. see you out there. I also may have one seat/standing room available pm me for availability. I plan to launch at A dock around 8-9 on sunday. I run a clean boat no smoking, mild cursing ok, mild drinking ok as I will have my 10yr old with me I have all the gear or bring your own, I mostly troll but will anchor up if its slow and try whatever. Must have license or you swim for shore long story but true.

On the map it shows a fishing pier. can u fish off it?

I've only seen it while trolling by in the boat, so I don't know what the signs actually say as you walk onto it from shore. I think it's a handicap/wheelchair access pier, but I've seen lots of people fishing from it so I assume it must just say to give precedent to those with less mobility, rather that prohibiting anyone but them from using it. Someone else will undoubtedly know more specifically.

But any way, why would you want to fish from a dock- it's high off the water-hard to land fish-limited directions to fish in- why not roam the shoreline which has virtually unlimited access all around the lake and cover a lot more water and fishy areas? Just curious......

I believe it's purpose is a fishing dock. I've seen many people fishing off of it.

Shoreline is better. Too bad we can't have yesterday's 63 degree weather to warm up the water a little and increase the fish's metabolisms making them hungrier.
