Drifted the Wilson yesterday with fellow Ifish member Smily. Fishing was not too hot but we had a good time. Smily landed a ferocious Cutt and I was able to foul hook a smolt who was taking part of a smolt feeding program at my behalf. Both fish released unharmed. Had never been in a drift boat before and that was an experience. The real adventure came when Andy decided to let me row for awhile. A modest rapid left us pinned to bank under a log momentarily as Andy rethought his decision to let me row. I thank Andy very much for the experience as he is a pleasure to fish with.

Dave

Hey KilgoreTrout, Don't give up the ship ( so to speak). I remember the first time I (tried to)row a drift boat. The curent pulled me and two other guys right into a row of over hanging bushes. But its ok (NOT!!)we it a big rock and it pushed us out from the bushes. I was so embarrassed....but the next time I was ready and I've learned alot about how to work the boat and the bait. SO DON'T GIVE UP! images/icons/smile.gif Hopefully Smily will give you another shot at it.

Besides snagging and catching the wrong spieces of fish. It was a great day to be on the river. I had never been on that river before and it was a little low, (only had to walk thru 2 or 3 places). It was a beautiful river no less. It was also a pleasure meeting and fishing with you Kilgoretrout. Wished we had a little more water and fish running thru that day. Or is it Biters we were looking for?

As far as getting you on the oars, well you asked if it was hard to learn and I said there ain't no way to learn it from up there, What was I thinking. images/icons/rolleyes.gif I seen the rapids coming up and asked if you were ready, it looked pretty tame, There wasn't a lot of flowing water, the only bad part was when that tree overhanging the river looked like it was gonna take me out. images/icons/shocked.gif Luckily we got around the whole thing. Need to practice a little more on tamer waters for the real fast rougher rivers. It was still a blast to drift that river with you. Let's do it again some time when we get the chance.
