Yes that is them, they are born hunters that will do everything but point,

Jacks make Awesome Squirrel hounds, If you could build one with a longer gait, you'd have a little Jackrabbit hound.

I'd be leery of working one on seaducks, they need more cork on the bones to float that nose above the waves,

But for land based stuff, Look out!

These are not Jack russells but you are right about them not floating if they quit swimming they sink.

maybe this is just a bump, but I might be interested. I've had 2 jacks and have been looking for another, just waiting for the right one.

Jagd terriers are cool dogs, not so much shedding.. But not so much in the looks department. Not to be confused with Jack Russels which are prettier but much more high strung.

Please take a look at the link in the second post.
There dogs are hunting dogs not inbread lap dogs.

yea I looked at the link before I responded, but the guy's pics aren't that great and niether is his description. History was outstanding though. I like to know where a dog comes from. If these are "hunting" dogs, are you saying they wouldn't be good family dogs?
In the past I've had labs that were good at both but searched for something smaller and, long story short, found my JRT's, one of which I did hunt with.
Now I'm looking for something smaller (terrier sized) that will do good with the family (socially acceptable), with a "hunting" background. Seems like "hunting" dogs are more eager to please and easier to train, as opposed to cattle dogs or "inbread lap dogs"
My JRT was an excellent (in my opinion) flusher for both rabbits and upland birds.
So Twodogs, if you think your Jagds might fit my description, let me know. Thanks, Tom.
