Yep, as a novice.... The marbeling is not to dificult, but it adds a cool unique touch.
Like this one for example: I started with the orange underwrap, and then did the yellow guide wraps..... I thought red marbeling would look great, and help set off the other two colors.... WRONG... I hated it, so on the next coat of finish, I simply added silver, black, yellow, etc..... and came out with this rod....
For me each rod is still an experiment, but I am having fun with it. The big thing is moving fast when you do the epoxy finish. In order to do everything before the finish starts to set-up.
One of the masters of marbeling (Scott Throop) told me to marbel things around the house and play with the color, before trying it on a rod. He said in his house nothing was safe.....he even marbelled his wifes cell phone....:)
I just started playing with rods, and so far it has worked out for me....
