G Loomis, new finish and colors

Today, G Loomis sent me a warranty replacement for a GL2 HSR-932C rod. The finish is not the powder blue like the other rods I have. It is a gloss finish in navy blue called 'Neptune'.

I heard that they are also using different colors as well. Does anyone know anything about this?

yes, i've seen quite a few in the store lately that are different colors. this probably has something to do with the fact that loomis was sold to shimano! we'll see what happens with the rods.

All of the blanks they are selling are gloss and hae 3 different colors or performance grades.. so they can distinguish bewteen factory rods...
They say the quailty and performance of the gloss blanks are the same.. but a gloss fisnish blank is nowhere near the quality of a matte finish blank.. Infact that was their orginal selling point, the matte finish blanks are lighter (true) and have a better feel (true) and produce less glare (true) however, now they will only sell gloss blanks (which are supposed to have the same quality and performance as matte blanks??? No

I checked them out last year,it's a GL-2 thing only,green ,champagne,and a few others.But it's the gl-2 so it might as well be a lami,justnot the same....Os

compared to the Higher end Loomis's they're not the same.....get over it....my.02...Os

Hey Mr F. that rod is listed as a 'Sturgeon Rod' in the Loomis bible. Guess we better go burn some sturgeon bait soon. BTW, you be spoiled now being under the big top. No more freezing in the rain for team 'Pilar'.

Hey Johnboy, I just had the same rod replaced but they were out of the blue. Since I had to have the rod in two days I went ahead and ordered the maroon color. It looks just like the old IM7's. The quality is just fine, but it looks kind of funny next to all the blue rods in the rack...

Hey Y'all

Glad to hear that our friends the Loomis crew are still honoring their warranties. I have a STR1025 that I need to get the lead eye replaced on. I hope they don't give me much guff over it. It is, after all, a very special rod to me.
As long as they don't start replacing them with yellow poles.... images/icons/smile.gif All is good!
